I really like this story. Valwardon you are truly a good person helping someone out like that. Kinda reminds me of something my dad did a couple years ago. He didn't help the guy make money, but he kept him from begging for money for alcohol and drugs by giving him food vouchers instead of money. Not the same thing I know, but really helping someone out like that takes a good person at heart.
Ya know I'm new here but I've been lurking for a while, and this is right on target. Sure there are the people that want to make quick cash without doing anything, but some noobs here (like me) are willing to work hard at this, but can't get the initial push. If I could see something implemented and know how it works, I know I could twist it to my needs and be really good at it.
Just my $.02
But keep us updated with the experiment!

I've helping people for like 8 years, in a social organization. Is always better to teach than to give money or things, but is not easy.
One thing I learned is all this years is not to surprise if the person doesn't thank you.

Thats the difference, the bum marketing guy has a hidden agenda(email list), and, Val does not. I suspect travis(the creator of bum marketing) is afraid his own methods wont work. Travis could've increased his fame with a case study a loooong time ago.

Well I am just going to theorize that this maybe correct..... I read on DP forum that some of the DP forum members have family members that want to learn how to make money online and cant, so, I am not sure how that works,lol. Perhaps they dont teach well I dont know.
With all due respect, DP is a forum of toolboxes (op. cit. OSH)

Great job OP. I really admire your good character. It's not easy a lot of times to give up our time and knowledge in teaching someone, and especially when you're not expecting anything in return. You probably gave him some hope that there is a way out of his situation by showing him it is possible to do something with very little. Way to go, I hope you keep us updated.

Use this one to teach methods, prove your point and you're done.
But why not hire others to work for you? I'm sure they'd work hard, and they'd work effectively for cash. You could easily recruit them, and although tax may be a sticky issue, it'd be like outsourcing but potentially better!

one thing i do is pay the homeless guys at busy interstate off ramps near me to hold signs or wear tshirts promoting my site... it works perfectly with my niche. $20 per guy usually yields around $1200 or so (each guy has a unique site per day so i can track performance) i have a reputation for paying and only pay after i see x number of visitors. just a thought for others.

Nice work you're doing, hope he will remain interested and understands that he will have to work hard to achieve the goal of crawling out of the gutter with the use of the internet.
