YOUTUBE Seo - analysis

I have been reading a whole lot about youtube SEO THEORIES...

There is one going around that shorter titles with your exact keyword being in the title and in the description would get you better ranking on the pages.

As we already know, the amount of views has nothing to do with your ranking.

So here as an example, I will explain my test.

I was ranking 10th video for my keyword (and my friend) " Rick Genest"


my original title was : Zombers has a picnic : lucifer's Blasphemous (rick genest)

I will now give you a breakdown of each spot:

I then decided to switch my title to : zombie boy has a picnic - rick genest


I waited 24 hours and saw no changes happened. Still at spot #10 and not on google search results.


Here is what I have anylised:

vid #1.


- The video title and description are super short, and to the point.
- vid has very few views / comment. Especially compared to the others under!
- Chan has 11 subs....40k total views on vids and 12 uploads
- User has 165 vids that he has favorited
-200 likes

in this case short title/desc + very active in the community placed this user in coveted first spot ( I get the feeling that the fact that this video is relatively new, it helps get a boost - it would be interesting to check back in a month or two if it changed spot)


vid #2.


- Longer title than the first video
- 200k+ views
- 6 uploads , 1 favorited , 21 subs
-645 likes
- 1 year old
- "as seen on..."

In this case I feel it ranked 2nd due to its slightly longer title and description, but the good amount of views and likes made it rank well.


vid #3. ​

- Keyword not in title​

- 400k+ views​

- 72 uploads , 6 favorited , 200 subs​

-1800 likes​

- relatively new also
- only 506k total upload views (cheater?)

In this case I feel it ranked 3rd due to the keyword obviously not being in the title...I think the massive views are helping compensating. It is also relatively new. It is however, weird to see how well this video performed, compared to spot #1 even if they are dating back to around the same time. It is safe to say you need your keywords in the title.


vid #4. ​

- 5 uploads , 0 favorited , 3885 subs​

-982 likes​

- username with keyword in it​

In this case I feel it ranked 4th due to the keyword not being in the title. I believe this proves that the YT Search engines will put more importance on a a title than a username.


vid #5. ​

- Longest title so far​

- 1600+ views​

- 21 uploads , TONS OF favorited , 3700 subs​

- 3 months old​

In this case I feel it ranked 5th due to its longer title. There are very few views on this video however. With the incredible amounts of favorited videos, and the fact that it has 3700 subs helped it rank so well.

- no description​

- 86k+ views​

In this case I feel it ranked 6th due to the fact that it has a good short title with keyword but NO DESCRIPTION

In this case I feel it ranked 7th due to its longer title. It has less subs than me, less favorites, less of EVERYTHING but Uploads & VIEWS. So Views count to a certain extent. As for uploads, I guess this would be counted as participating in the community.

In this case I feel it ranked 8th due to its longer title. It has less subs than me, less favorites, less of EVERYTHING but VIEWS and total views. So Views count, I think it is now safe to say so.​

vid #9.​

In this case I feel it ranked 9th due to its short title but low amounts of uploads. It does have massive favorites (600+) and is subscribed to 50 people. Chan has next to no stats, but the title and comunity activity is puting them ahead of us.

So I have learned that:

- I need to participate more in the youtube comunity
- Views count, but size isnt all that matters
- Short title and description with exact keyword seem to do better.
- Being "as seen on" seems to help your rank which would make sense that they are boosting people "promoting youtube " elsewhere on the web
- title > username
- youtube search is just a hard nut to fricken crack


I hope this has helped some people out as it took me a good 2 hours to do!

Description
Tags
Ratings
Favorites

I upload atleast 5 videos a day mostly newly released songs
and thanks to some help from this forum I always end up in the top 5 results no matter how late I come in. Mind you when new songs come out people rush to youtube to upload so its highly competitive within that 12 hour period.

check the above analysis and feel free to go check it out yourself on YT (hence why i gave the keyword)

You might be misinterpreting my statement as, It is not COMMUNITY ACTIVITY that ranks you but it one of the things YT takes into consideration when providing search results.

As far as I seem to grasp all this, I get the feeling that uploading 5 vids a day would also count as participating in the community as you are helping the website grow.

Well from the looks of it, It does but only to a certain extent. as the keyword in the username was ranked lower than the others.

I suspect it might be because the words are not seperated by a space though.


I would also like to share my joy on my first video being successful in getting a partnership with Youtube.

I just received a video response and got pushed from fourth to THIRD spot.

Check out the stats of views and all

I applied the stratagy I was talking about!
worked!

but vid responses seems to be VERY IMPORTANT!
