What do you do to motivate yourself?

mr. noob opinions are like... well you know what their like, so, let that be my disclaimer. One thing that motivates me is watching, reading, or, seeing, luxury cars, women, and, all the finer things in life. I rarely waivered in my life from not wanting to have those things. I think some of us just need a reason to do something. We need something to be passionate about. Sometimes it may come from a different career choice. It may or may not come from BHW. It will be something you just have to find through trial and error.

I wish you the best:biggthump

Good Luck

Ok, we're going to do some guided imagery:

Imagine yourself living under a highway overpass. It's been days since you showered or brushed your teeth. You're hungry and your next meal is in 5 hours at the soup kitchen 2 miles away. The insects bite you at night while you try to sleep and people harass you with remarks like, "get a job, you bum!" Now hold that mental picture...

Pretty bad, huh? If you don't get busy this is YOUR fate! How's that for motivation!

My motivation has been the dream of returning to the freedom of freelance programming.

Also I work a shitty desk job beneath my skill set which has been lighting a fire under me for the past few months that is really paying off!!!

I will be returning to freelance a lot sooner than I expected :)

I've got a few big ticket items I'd love to have: loft space, bio-diesel Hummer, Nikon D300 with glass and accessories...

I keep photos of these things on my computer and reference them often. I've also got photos of my Mom and Dad on my desk. I'd hate to disappoint them by failing to succeed...they didn't raise me to be a loser.

As a daily thing, I look in the mirror and talk to myself about working hard and succeeding. Seems corny but it really helps. I make sure I take breaks so that I don't burn out. I think about my amazingly hot girlfriend and the incredibly hot sex we have, and how I probably wouldn't be as lucky if I was some bum without a job (and ambition). I smoke a little bit of weed and listen to a lot of music.

My motivation is my desktop backround. A 2004 Corvette :)

Any time i dont feel this is going to work and i feel like giving up i see that picture and just keep trying.

I will be creating a site soon that will not only help to motivate but also 'cure' alot of mental ailments that keeps a person from succeeding in whatever venture they are involved in.

The material alone will be the equal to thousands of dollars of phycological help, and hypnosis treatments........ ALL FOR FREE TO YOU!

Don't ask me why I will be offering this type of service for free, when I could make some serious money with it. It just FEELS like something that I have to do.

I will keep all posted who are interested in taking advantage.

Awesome dude. I'm always down for anything that'll help me get an advantage over my life. Pretty cool of you to do something like this for people. Let us know.

I'd like to share my desktop background. The original was called A Little Motivation and it simply said "Do your work. Don't be stupid."

I've modded it a bit, and keep adding random quotes and whatnot to it:

(Please let this automatically resize so I don't break BHW. ;P )

Remember the Name by Fort Minor is an awesome song, not sure about motivating, but 100% awesome, best Fort Minor song that I know. That flobots song is also pretty cool, thanks for sharing it with us. I found this comment on the Flobots - Handlebars video quite funny, thought I'd share it with you:

second funniest thing I've seen today.

For me, pure motivation isn't enough, I can be shit motivated but then I procrastinate like hell or get put off by the thought that I might fail and end up wasting my time, although I do wast a lot of time anyway. Like others have said, making some sales is very motivating.

There is several time in my life that i feel like i'm the most loser person in this world. in that time i dont wanna do anything again coz multiple failure that i get i before. back then my best friend told me that when you failure don't stop doing it, you can stop for a while but only to analyze then start doing it again with a better approach. so since then everytime i'm in dip shit i always take a moment to try analyze all what i did before and starting again with better approach. in the end doesnt matter which path you choose, the only matter is the goal you choose.

One for sure need motivation when starting out. It's hard to make money online if not knowing what to do and how to do things and by just doing what everybody else is doing one wont make it.

Making money can for sure be a motivation but when not making any it's hard to keep on going. When I first started out as an affiliate, I was on for almost 6 month with a site trying to monetize form AdSense, Ebay auctions and Amazon products. I think I made around one USD on each of them on that time and that's when I started to read up and try to figure out how to really do things in the right way. At those times one need motivations. In my case it was the anger fro not making it and cause I thought that it couldn't be soo gad damn hard to get some money online. In the end i managed and so well so I could quit my day job too. (I then open up a company and got myself another day job but that's another story ;))
