I wondered what people do, listen to, read or whatever to motivate
themselves. What makes you feel like you can do whatever it takes
to get what you want?

I know the real secret is being motivated enough to do what it takes
no matter what it takes.

So does anyone have the ultimate hack? The one into the human brain?

I appreciate any help.

Cashing four and five figure checks and withdrawing cash from direct deposits to splurge on stuff keeps me motivated. -e-

Did you do anything in particular to motivate yourself to do the work to get to
the point of those checks? Because weed is out for me, I don't know where to get it. Especially with the feds cracking down all the damn time.

that's Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park. That's his project called "Fort Minor"

I will 2nd that song as well.

I like to drive around different parts of where I live where all the huge houses are and just look at them, pretending that I will one day live on that street. Same goes with cars, I surf ebay motors looking at all the nice cars that I work for everyday, hoping to drive one one day.

Also I like coming here and reading the how much are you earning threads and seeing what some people are making and knowing that I could be doing the same thing as long as I out the time and effort to research, learn and do...

I procrastinate a lot, and my main motivation is a quick passage from a good book, like the last few chapters of How To Get Rich by Felix Dennis. I also focus heavily on how i'll feel at some point in the future, 2 hours - a few weeks depending on the task, and then get on it.

I also have lots of breaks and go for a quick drive to MacDonalds, buy a coffee or 2, have a few fags and listen to some business CDs or read NLP. Hopefully on my return i'm busting to work. Oh, and i also find if i get up before 7 am and can start working by 8 am, i get hyper motivated, providing i don't stop. For me momentum is king, stopping or doing something else for too long is a killer.

I also like to bare some good quotes in mind and have them stuck up all around my desk along with pictures of expensive cars and nice houses. There also resides my secret weapon, which is a sheet of A4, which about 2 years ago i wrote upon in an epiphany of unmotivated rage.

No chance of sharing your epiphany?

It says this: (in blue felt tip, scribbled in anger, where some parts are barely legible! -Excuse the language btw!)

CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT STOP THINKING. START DOING.
Do you want to look back in 10 years and be the same?
Do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got. You know everything you need to know, why waste time you daft cunt, fucking do it. Now! What hurts more: regret or hardwork? Don't do it tomorrow. Every passing minute is another chance to turn things around. Choosing not to try through fear of failure is choosing failure by not trying.
STOP STOP STOP. IMPULSE. IMPULSE! THINK TO YOURSELF, THINK WHY YOU DO WHAT YOU DO? ARE YOU GETTING CLOSER OR FURTHER FROM YOUR GOALS? GET WHAT YOU WANT. GET WHAT YOU WANT. YOU CONTROL YOU.
SWIM TO THE BOAT, LISTEN TO THE FISHERMAN.

It's as above, but messier and angrier! The last line was a personal adaptation of a few sayings, which i have stuck up in a few places. The old saying of "give a man a fish; you have fed him for a day, teach a man to fish; you've fed him for a lifetime", coupled with "Stop waiting for your boat to arrive, swim out to meet it."

Quite embarrassing really, but writing that in a rage stuck with me, so it's uite a good reminder.

Thanks. I think I'll write myself a little pissed off love note like that to myself
and keep it with me as well.

johnypro Man, you got some major bills. Hope some day to make the cash but not
get the bills. But I'm not sure it's possible. Not the American way.

FatherCarbon Thx but your video is no longer available. So I downloaded flobots off
piratebay. Cool, thx for the recomendation.

I'm self employed and I keep myself motivated by saying that if I don't earn money I'll be homeless, no car, no food and no hot girlfriend that's 15 years younger than me.

Yeah it's probably easier to be motivated if it's your only income.

Me,I've got a job that pays the bills and need to motivate myself to
make myself something more than that.

I'm certainly not complaining about having a job in this economy but want to build security for my kid. But after work I need to find some real motivation not to want to veg out.

Maybe I should pay someone to kick my ass if I don't get work done?

It all depends on where you live. There are plenty of big cities where 10K a month is barely middle class, and in other parts of the world, a person could live like a king for that kind of money.

For me, the single biggest thing is freedom. When I was working in a cube farm, my employer would basically extort more hours from me. The threats were never overt, but the idea that they could fire my ass at any time was always hanging over me, ready to influence my decision as to whether or not to stay an extra hour, whether or not to actually use my vacation time and when I did take some time off, you better believe I had my phone and notebook on hand, just in case they needed something!

What did I get for all of my sacrafice? A mumbled "I'm sorry we can't keep you" as they fired me anyway, all to cut costs, and preserve the ludicrously high bonuses of the executive management.

That is no way to live life. I have good days and bad days, since I have gone it on my own, but if I want to take a day off, the absolute worst thing that might happen to me is that I fail to get a new customer that day. Nobody has the power to suddenly cut off my income, because it is on my own terms. Sure, some clients (or networks, etc.) might get pissed at me (it happens) and not send me any more work, or let me promote their offers any more, but there are always more clients, and always more networks, and they can never take away my ability to develop sites, or promote products.

To sum up, my motivation is never winding up back in the place where my livelihood is tied to my sitting a desk for some other asshole who wouldn't hesitate to fire me if they thought it would help their bottom line.

Weed is definitely a great motivator for me. I find that when I am high I have much clearer insights into my faults and weaknesses. I think of creative ways to overcome these and end up putting them into action once the THC wears off.

Not sure if I want to get into the physiology, psychosomatics, and science of TLC, but, nevertheless I thank you for the laugh. BHW never ceaces to amaze me, lmao.

There is no motivation for me like knowing that my November paycheck will be larger than the October and hopefully smaller than December paycheck. :D
