Biggest Mistake in your IM Career

Worst thing that in IM can do...and I did it many times, safe to say it cost me some bank in the process.

1. Broad match Vs. exact = waste of about $50 in domains
2. Reading too much BHW
3. No confidence in what I'm really worth.
4. Thinking I am better than selling services.
Now that I'm passed all that I'm finally making some moolaa. Only like 300-500 a month, but its all auto and ALL of it goes towards my one white project so I got high hopes.

When I first got started on adult dating many years ago, I stupidly spammed a sex forum with my affiliate link. Someone actually ratted me out to my network and I lost $15,000 that I had from other legitimate leads.
Oh, and I was also on top of the month for another 12 grand in bonuses.

I tried to give more time to local life and lost a part of my IM and then it started like chain reaction.
I used to work from 4 am to 8 pm
but now i need to focus on my wife and life too.
hard work always pays.

1) I bought a domain for $900 based on the name of the company that I was setting up at the moment. I didn't notice that the name had a word inside that had two ways of spelling it if you use American or British English. Think: "colour" and "color". There was a competitor with the same name more or less! I am still considering my options on what to do with it.
2) Accepting bad clients that are bound to create more trouble that is not worth the time and money.

My biggest mistake is getting bored and not focussing. Then trying to follow all the little im methods. I wasted a tons of time with twitter and other crap, rather than focussing what I was already good at.
I've learned to treat it like a job and stick with what I know makes money. Plus now, instead of trying to copy some little $50 method... Ill spend time watching Kern or Kennedy.

My biggest mistake was not having a plan to stick with.
I was searching to make "$5000 per day with one click" methods and when I didn't get results I changed to the "best" new trend
I learned to stick to the basics, IM is not rocket science, is mainly hard work and organization.

My biggest mistake so far has gotta be procrastination. I keep meaning to get started and make my millions, but then it seems that life conspires keep me distracted from that goal through various good (and not so good) reasons. Trying to rein in the impulse to slack off these days, let's see where I end up a year from now..

But my mistakes, in no particular order
1) Complacency
- making a lot of money tends to do this
2) Laziness
- complacency's twin brother
3) Not diversifying
- Its hard being Cl's bitch. A change they make can ruin me for months, and that's a bad place to be
4) Throwing $ at problems
- Money is relative. And so when when your losing 1k a day because bad stuffs going bad, you want to fix that shit fast. And there's always lots of ways to waste money on things that "might" work. And most quick fix's don't
5) Always choosing software over people
- Sometimes, things need a human touch. Or at least another set of eyes
I'm sure there's more, but, when you go big, theres lots of room for fail, and I've made more than a few

This is a GREAT thread! I can't believe how many unique mistakes people are listing. (Uh-oh, there's a lot of mistakes to avoid!!!)
Is this really a mistake? It's mine right now, but I think it makes sense to edumacate yourself on wtf you're doing before you actually do it. I mean, if I started a month ago when I came here, I'd be doing some things that I now recognize are wastes of money and very short-term oriented and might fail w/out making a penny.
OTOH I guess I could have learned some things through my experience that I still only have a conceptual grasp of.
To each their own, but I think having spent significant amounts of time reading here, now I'm prepared to hopefully make a few less mistakes. But I'll come back and let you know which ones I *do* make.

Dude, that's an awesome attitude. Not judging other people for their choices even when you don't like them is the sign of a very good person.
