Biggest Mistake in your IM Career

i made a website on keyword "seo tutorial" , seo tutorials , keywords like those .i spent more than 2k $ in ranking them.seo tips 36k searches,i ranked that but the fuck is :( no money.people those r searching for seo tutorials typo keywords, are already knowing about ads and affiliates and dont buy from my site weather i get approx. 300 uv a day and hardly 100 $ a month from site. my first site and fucked site.
conclusion - never and never make a site giving seo tutorials :( it sucks .
i guess i should advertise some seo services there, i have never tried that and thinking to do that but literately i am fed up with that site and although it seems a cool plan to offer seo services, me not working on that.
seo tutorials site ,a big waste for me :(

Wasting money on short term "methods" rather than investing in something long term. Autoblogs, Micro-niche sites, spamming eBay etc... apart from some quick money now and again they are all dead ends and time that could be spent doing something better.

Have learnt from those mistakes... spent the last year starting a site and investing in it, earnings have been increasing ever since!! :)

My 2 biggest mistakes to date are:

1. Jumping from 1 niche to another (I'm sure alot of us have been guilty of this starting out)
2. This is my biggest regret...getting scammed by extremeseo for $219!!! I'm still kicking myself over that one...never again!

Re: Biggest Mistake in your IM Career Buying a domain with spelling mistakes.
Lately : gaphic-design... instead of graphic-design...

LOL...lmao...

procrastination - went lazy when I was already earning $xx,xxx per month, spent time and lots of money on good time, fell in love and spent thousands of $$ to a whore, went back to work and saw nothing but banned accounts. = bankrupt. now i'm starting again from scratch.

Betting. Don't ever try to make money by betting for sports games!!!

the biggest mistake is purchasign and buying courses after courses and waiting for the holy grail...

just concentrate on one thing like seo.

build a site and work on the site until is reachs at least page one...

focus only on one thing and u will succeed !

Letting my ADD get to me and not focusing.
Reading too much and not enough action.
Not setting goals.

Those are my 3 biggest problems but I'm getting better at them and seeing the results.

To believe every writer that whatever they are giving is 100% unique and copy scape passed and this biggest Blunder got me to ban my Adsence last day...pretty disappointing but as we know its always a new learn everyday in IM so did I yesterday....

My biggest mistakes,

1.) a really bad and failed JV
2.) I bought a terrible site on flippa when I was a newbie, revenue 0, profit 0, in a highly competitive niche, Complete wast of my money and time,

1) Not setting goals. When I was about 20 (ten years ago), I was making a shit load of money from a niche ($300k per year) and I got lazy (depression maybe too) and pretty much walked away from it, but it was on autopilot so continued to make six figures for a few more years, but kept declining. Looking back,t he only thing I could think that could have changed things was setting goals and sticking to them. But at 20, it was hard to not be happy with what I've done. But the truth is if I could have even put in a few hours a day, I would have been making 7 figures. Now with competition today, things are 100x harder. To give you an idea, I created a site in about 2 days, it was a list of pharmacies for seniors and other people to get prescription drugs cheap. I pretty much just copied the list from a free site. All I did was submit it to Yahoo directory (think it was $200 at the time), and two days later that site was making about $100 a day, and I never did anything with it again.

2) Giving up. This ties into my above story. Bigger competition came into the niche, and I got discouraged. One was a big time company with a lot of money, so basically made my site look like an amateur. The other big competitor spent a ton of money on blackhat (which I wasn't into yet). These two guys destroyed the rankings, and looking up at them, trying to get myself back into it, I felt I was at the bottom of a mountain that was covered in ice.

But finally, I did get back into it, and realized, I may not have the money to do what these guys did, but I'm smarter than them to capitalize on other areas of the niche (smaller keywords). Then I also became a regular here and realized things were so much easier lol, and I did have a chance. So I battled back, and I continue to climb and slowly take chunks out of their empire. How's this for white hat. After about ten years of my site being online, it had about 150 natural links, was depressing. I was about #60 in google for the main keyword which is 150k+ exacts per month. Frustrated that there was so much crap above mine, I started doing some BH. Today, I am #4 in Google, of course behind the two competitors, and wiki. But I also have about 40 other sites most ranking in top #5 for their keywords, and I'm developing another 60 sites.

I have a son now, and he is my motivation. That and not wanting to ever be 'normal', and live a 'normal' life.

Sorry, long rant.
Not a long rant at all, thank you for sharing. "Not wanting to be normal or having a normal life"... this is pretty much what every one of us who do this have in common, in fact being "normal" like everyone else around me scares the living day lights out of me. :)

Thanks. Yep I hate the thought of it. I look around my neighborhood, and just think this isn't what I want. Don't want to live an ordinary life and die an ordinary man like everyone else. Some are fine with that, I am not.

1. Assuming a premium, video based product would sell better than a simple eBook.

2. Taking too much action - not cycling periods of action and research.

1. Outsourcing to cheap, non-native English speaking writers = 5 articles of 1000 words of crap.
2. Getting ahead of myself (cashing cheques in my head that I won't receive for 2 months).
