If you are in US, there was a method posted for university students few months back. Basic blueprint was to find a good education scholarship CPA offer, grab related .com, have .com forwarded to your CPA link, make some nice and attractive banners/notice done (website is offering scholarship). Distribute among students and put it on notice boards (think out of the box) - Bank!

Yeah I've been looking, but the thing is that I've seen that other people are looking for like 1000 backlinks for 30 bucks. And with this guy I'm doing 20posts and 1 backlink for 100 bucks.

That could be extremely profitable.

Obviously make a new email when you start mailing to them.

The thing is that I'm not really that savvy in creating sites.

Your best bet is probably not to jump into im if thats the case. Look into companies looking for campus representatives, campus ambassadors, etc. I had a friend in college who would make money putting up posters and handing out flyers around the campus. She would find jobs with multiple places looking for someone to do this, and put up all the posters at the same time, so that she was essentially being paid by 2 or 3 people at the same time.

College kids are a specific demographic and the more targeted group of people you can advertise to, the more people are willing to pay for the leads. Maybe instead of investing in something, you can start some sort of service for marketing at your university. Target local companies perhaps? I think doing something like this would be a safer bet and make better use of your position as a student.

If you are still interested in im, I'd say keep reading up until you feel more comfortable with a direction to head. Then consider investing.

There are so many ways to make money online that after you do a little research you shouldn't have a problem picking a method and going through with it... that is the best way to learn... by taking action!

start with the offline flyer/business card method. its very safe.

spending your 800, even if your sites take off you wont make the 800 back in any short amount of time. it will take a while for you to get up and running, generating revenue, and a couple of months to get into the black.

starting off with the flyer method is brilliant, will generate some quick cash, and boost your confidence.

Sorry to bump these guys, but I was in your shoes at the same time. Well, I'm 19, live at home, and going to community college. I'm applying to one of top business schools in the US this fall, and I've been working on building a passive income so I can somewhat support myself when I do go (though I will mention, my parents will support me regardless). I have around the same amount of money as you, maybe a little bit more. I'm investing it in a whole bunch of micro niche sites, and one larger site for the longrun.

I would strongly recommend reading into micro niche sites; they'd be great for a beginner like yourself. Ewhoring and all can bring in short bursts of good money, but if you want to build a passive income, go for micro niche sites/niche sites. Don't be afraid to invest. I was in your shoes; I had a fear of investing my money. Look at it like this; it's only $800. Chances are, if you read enough, have a plan, success is possible. Obviously, if you just jump into things, you have a higher risk of failing. So do your reading, and don't be afraid to invest. But invest wisely. Don't blow the $800. Good luck bro.

I'm a college student and the first time I got into SEO and IM was in June of 2011 (Almost a year ago). Within the period I probably spend a max of $350 and wasted most of it.
My advice to you would be to not invest a dime right now, go zero-investment like I did. I tried new methods each week and most of them did not work out or fit the way I worked.

I Constantly failed, diddn't make any money or just a couple of cents a day. I quit because I became demotivated and had a period of 3 months in which I did fuck all in terms of IM.

Try and take action as much as possible, I went from making nothing in 8 months to making a stable $900 - $1200 each month now, and 80% of this comes from a $10 investment per site.
