Hi,

I've mostly been lurking and reading around here for a while and I'm slowly starting to absorb the information on these forums, but I have a question about linking and seo that I hope you can help me with.

Are there any backlinking or automated tools available which won't risk me getting penalised by Google? I'm currently working on the site for my own business and I can't afford to risk doing something which will get me ranked lower in Google.

I read so many conflicting threads on this site about different approaches and what works and what doesn't and I can't afford to try a method and later realise it was a technique which got me penalised by Google.

So do you have some advice on the 'safest' way to improve seo ranking?

If you're that worried about penalization then you have to do safe manual linking the "proper" way eg social bookmarking, your own legit social networking profiles, submissions to quality local directories, manually posting worthwhile comments on high PR blogs and forums etc.

If you use automated mass marketing methods then there's always risk and you have to weigh up the risk vs reward. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Agreed. If you want safe, go whitehat, if you want quick results go blackhat.

Or if you want a mixture, do a bit of both, do things subtly and build links slowly using a variety of methods.

There is good middleground where you do Web2.0 sites with QUALITY articles, i dont consider spamming with QUALITY articles as a spam cause QUALITY is always QUALITY :)

You can use spammy software and look like whitehat if you do it properly and dont blast on PR N/A-0 sites with your link.

If you wont go safe, you can build links manualy or buy them from high pr sites, btw you can do some blasts as well but as it mantioned before do it smart and from good sites.

Dont worry when you are going on proper track with white hat seo. You can start with social bookmarking, blog commenting, directory submission, forum posting and other off-page activities.

If your webiste is dear to your hear and you want to sleep well go manual. When your backlink profile is big and diverse enough you can start thinking of automated tools, depending on your niche you might not need them anyway.

Investing in some sticky gadgets, apps or high quality articles might get you that big and diverse backlink profile pretty fast...

also do some press releases a month. I found this free pr service:

Can you recommend a good script to find good sites, forums, directories worth the time for posting, etc? Right now I manually do it with Alexa and takes me forever!

From what I understand, that's what scrapebox is designed to do.

What Autumn says is it,That can take forever. You can find freelancer here and pay them to do it manually, like 20-30 or 50 backlinks at a time. Not 10,000 at a time.Hope that helps.

Every bot can get you penalized if not used properly. Every dev recommends some specific settings / methods to be used with their bots. Just play slow and steady and you will see the results.
