You can have your own bank account at 17 without any problem. I've had my own since 16 without a custodian on it. Debit card and all.

Thanks pyrogod117 for the information, things seem even more like a money laundering scam to avoid paying tax. If i was running a legit business and was hiring people, i would want my employees correct home address and bank account details or i would not hire them.

I personally wouldn't send any money, until the guy offers up an account that is in his name and with proper home address details.

Very tricky business this hiring people over the internet.

Ohwell I gtg sleep cant wait to see mugshots reply (:

If the OP gives bank account names of his parents or guardians and if mug pays to that address then case seems to be solved. But if OP asks for some random address then who is going to verify if mug paid him or not, OP will always come and start moaning again. They need escrow for this deal or this will go in loop for sure.

I don't understand the concept of wanting to be paid when no revenue was generated.

I find it strange that you would say that, considering the post you made against me a short while ago.

Promises and guarantees have no place in the marketing arena there are too many external factors and variables to even consider making them.
I commit to completing the work set out in the schedule, nothing more.

I have no idea what is true when it comes to this deal, I don't understand the terms of it. But the OP's defense is that he DID make the calls, and that was the deal. He is saying there was no agreement that he had to convert, he just had to dial the phone and make the pitch. Nothing more.

Onto Mugshots...

I am entirely confused about him. He definitely is a real person, running several real online businesses, and involved in many different JV's, but I think he is trying to pull a Shoemoney on everyone to build up his own reputation and go somewhat viral within the internet marketing communities.

If you google search RepATX and ReputationATX you will eventually find his website and other forum accounts etc. His main website is brand new, just made in May, so obviously it isn't some established business and he isn't making tons of money from it yet. I don't know how he figured he would have $1,000,000 in sales within 6 months of starting a brand new company.

I believe his idea was, build his own reputation here enough, and he will be able to outsource on a commission basis with a ton of great marketers doing his work. I don't believe his intentions are to scam people. He just needs people to WANT him to succeed.

If he offers a $1,000 per sale commission, and he has 100s of the brightest minds in marketing working for him, and he make $3,000 profit off each sale for his company, you can do the math and see where he figured he has the potential to make millions. And I would assume, the Vegas mini convention if it ever took off, would basically be a way for him to gather more workers.

His business plan is sound, and it still has potential if he beats this rap here.

rule #1 never work with out a contract ...
rule #2 verify the company/person before you work
rule #3 make sure you can talk to other employees
rule #4 make sure you have the owner/boss/supervisor phone number
rule #5 makesure you have the phone number and adress of a real office somewhere in the world that can be verified
rule #6 if your not working in their office do the work as a contract/freelance 50% upfront if not fully paid upfront

the list of rules ive made for my self afte a couple of similar incidents .. now im paranoid when i work for people

sorry to hear about your losses

oh and arnt afghanistan deployments like 1 year +? how long has afghanistan been a war? ive been living under a rock ....

Is it just me, or does this whole thread suddenly have a very "blackmail"-type feel to it?

Successful businessmen always recruit the greatest minds in their chosen industry. So the mugshot business plan is i agree pretty sound.

But having a business with anonymous company directors though nothing new in the business world, just screams out scam artists and anyone with the slightest intelligence should avoid.

Like sircoldfire has indicated the OP should of had their wits about them and got some sort of written agreement, because in most cases someones word means absolutely nothing!

I attempted to contact his partner Jamie, but I could not get any contact with him/her. Also, even though he is under contract, he is under contract with Reputation ATX and that company doesn't exist so he doesn't have to pay...bullshit

I think it has more of a "I am 17 years old and WAY over my head" type feel to it. The thing is, TheOneVisionMedia has done work advertising for Mugshots, and he hasn't gotten paid yet, so maybe he truly believes Mugshots is trying to scam him.

We don't know the full story yet. We don't know what the agreement was fully. We don't know how long he has been waiting to be paid. I think the reason he doesn't want to accept the money to his bank account or his parents bank account is most likely due to concerns over money laundering investigations or tax purposes.

My mothers bank froze their account and reported it to the federal government when someone gave her a gift of $1,500 and they didn't even notify her or call her to ask what was up. They just froze her accounts and wouldn't allow her access to them for several days. Why? Because it is unusual for someone to just GET thousands of dollars in their account. If it is paid by a company, that is different. If it is transferred from a personal account or something, you can easily get your accounts frozen.

Now if his parents have a mortgage, and their accounts get frozen and cheques bounce, they could lose their house or get thousands in fines. Add to that the very real possibility of getting audited for the last few years, and you can understand why a 17 year old doesn't want to get money deposited in his personal account or his parents account.

Great posts! As I said, I don't think Mugshots was intending to scam anyone, but you are both 100% correct. He purposely and intentionally left himself a back door where he could quickly and easily disappear with NO liability for his actions at all. He is a ghost and doesn't let anyone get too close to his paper trail.

If he succeeds, he will reveal himself in Las Vegas. If he fails, *poof*.

You may very well be right, Kickflip.

Still, though, you ever had the feeling that something just isn't adding up, although you just can't quite put your finger on what it is that is bothering you?

Thats the feeling I'm getting from this thread.

I could be completely wrong. Heck, that wouldn't be anything new.

But, still...

Wow! I first heard of Mugs with his Vegas thread. Many people jumped on board... thinking they could get something for nothing. Sounds like the same case here.

I'm glad I'm not a mod that has to figure this out.

As they say, there are always three sides to the story. Mugs, the OP, and the truth.
