my experiences are that Google underestimates the traffic volume. I usually get a lot more then what is stated on the estimates.

I've also noticed that the volume of searches can actually inflate and fluctuate depending on the time of year.... For example, if you have a product which is seasonal.... and sells well in Jan/Feb, you will notice the search volume to be higher just after these months, than the rest of the year.

My opinion, is to use the keyword tool alongside google trends to ensure the keyword receives a constant stream of traffic, and not just once a year, which then averages out at a x,xxx volume in the keyword tool itself..

Hey Guys before complaining Google you should research on it. I did many researches and now Google numbers are almost correct.

1. Did you check the webmaster tool to see impressions that you got?

Your CTR is 0.5% so it is reasonable because there are laser target ads in the google search rather than your meta tags.

Google is correct. You got confused. Optimize your meta tags and see results.

What does your title and description tag say? It could be garbage and people are just skipping it and going right to the #2 spot.

I second dgfalk's comments. Spammy/shitty titles and descriptions are a turn off. You may want to tweak this so that the meta info appeals more to those that see it.

Maybe you are targeting a seasonal keyword.Did you check google insights?

...so check AW Stats/setup more than 1 statistical platform and weed it out?

Search engine USERS are getting smarter by the day as well. A lot of the things that G is looking for itself, the users will look for as well such as EMD, relating keywords in desc, etc.

Try switching the title tag up.
I've noticed that trying to add more attractants in my title tags hurts me in the long run. Use the EXACT keyword in your title, and nothing else. This has helped SEO value as well as CTR (although, sometimes it hurts too, which is why you should test)

Might be your CTR, number 2 or 3 probably have more click throughs than you. Have you check your Description and Titles compared to the ones below you?

Also log out of your google account, you may be number 1 only within your account and not in regular Google

Keyword analysis tool has given me some disappointing results as well. But, it has given me some surprises also. Sometimes, it says that only 300 people are searching for a search term but I get 10 visitors in just one day by being on the lower half of the first page.

One good way to investigate your keyword would be to type it in Google. If you see a lot of suggestions with your keyword as part of many other keywords, you can almost be sure that you are going to get a lot less than what Google promises.

For example, there might be a keyword that says "Your keyword" and Google might say that it gets 5,000 searches in a month.
But, if you type the keyword in Google and you see many suggestions like YOUR KEYWORD xxxxx, YOUR KEYWORD xxxxxxxxx, YOUR KEYWORD XXX XXXXXXXX XXXXX etc...it means that you should be very conservative with your expectations.

Just my opinion of course.
