Lately I am quite happy with my success in getting ranked on page one for some terms that 3 months back I thought I would never rank for.
I do mostly "white-hat" backlinking - half-decent (mostly manually-created and maintained) Web 2.0s/blogs/Youtube vids etc. in Tier 1, that I build up gradually over a month or two, blasting the Tier 1s, or more often dripping links to them, with AMR articles, sometimes spun, sometimes duplicate - doesn't seem to make a whole lot of difference. I also sometimes backlink the livelinks randomly with AMR too to get a nice webwork and help get/keep them indexed.
Anyway, I used to think there was a quick way to page one, and maybe some people still have some shortcuts, but I am finding that especially with my relatively non-spammy methods, 2-3 months is about normal to hit the top ten for a keyword (I normally pick low-medium comp stuff). And my rise up the rankings is always nice and smooth, never any dancing, and though it can seem slow initially, things accelerate after a couple of months and, wahey, there I am! After a while I can safely blast my site directly with AMR too, with no ill effect.
I find the rankings I get this way are very stable, which you would expect - slow and steady wins the race AND creates a very solid basis for long-term rankings. Is that generally others' experience? Or do you think this is waaaaay too slow and you prefer to do things quicker
