Hey Guys! Sorry for the fact that I haven't been actively checking this thread; been busy working on a project lately. Let me do my best to respond to your questions on the thread.
I seriously want to know why eBay always sides with the buyer. The sellers are the ones paying aren't they??? I just sold a pair of used bike shorts and put in the description "small quarter sized chunk of pad missing"
Then what do I get for $5... negative feedback from the guy complaining about the hole I described. Then eBay pretty much told me to go f*** off when I tried to settle it.
eBay protects the buyers because they have a brand to protect. Ever wonder why there's a "Buyer Protection" program on eBay but not a "Seller Protection" and how sellers can't give buyers negative feedback now? It all has to do with their goal to build their brand through showing that eBay is a safe environment to purchase from. Meanwhile, eBay can afford to side with the buyers because they know that the seller has an incentive to continue selling on their site despite losing a couple disputes here and there.
Yes, however, normally it works the other way round, traffic is driven from eBay auction to own website.
How can you promote an auction outside of eBay?
Yes he has more reputation in form of more feedback, but not that much, about 150 feedback more than my account ....
People promote their auctions outside of eBay by pasting their auction links. They do this for certain "high priced" items like cars, per se.
Is eBay still accepting affiliates I have been trying to join the EPN network lately and have nothing but problems. Also is it still worth it to be an EPN.
I received this email a few days ago and I don't know exactly why I have the content and removed all monetizing from the webpage I sent them and countless other things I read that can get someone denied.
Here is the Email.............
Thank you for applying to the eBay Partner Network. We regret to inform you that we cannot accept your application at this time.
Like many other affiliate programs, eBay Partner Network has a thorough application vetting process to ensure a good fit between a potential affiliate and the goals of the network. There are a number of reasons why your eBay Partner Network application may have been declined. Some of these include:
- You are not in compliance with the eBay Partner Network Agreement and/or Code of Conduct.
- The stated website that you plan to promote us from is non-functioning or inaccessible
- The quality of your stated website is not in line with our network standards
- The information you submitted in your application (contact information and your description of how you plan to promote eBay Partner Network) is incomplete or unclear
- Your business model or stated website does not appear to be one that would attract eBay buyers (the eBay Partner Network does not currently provide commissions for bringing eBay sellers or listings to the site)
- Your business model involves re-directing traffic directly to eBay from display ad networks or paid search (no longer allowed per our Terms and Conditions)
- Your business model involves a sub-affiliate model (no longer allowed per our Terms and Conditions)
I plan on trying once again to join the EPN network before I give up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
To the best of my knowledge, eBay is still accepting affiliates. The reason why you're not getting accepted could be largely due to you not residing in the United States.
could you recommend any service provider for effective ebay store/listing seo?
I personally don't use any service providers for effective eBay SEO. The reason why you're on eBay is because it already has traffic, you don't need external SEO usually. To optimize your listings to get more viewers, you could always market them better; read a couple books here and there.
I have a question for you. I'm an experienced ebay seller but this one has got me stumped. How is it possible for all these sellers to offer free shipping on their items (and ebay seems to be pushing that really hard) and price their items competetively at the same time? I've always used usps and I don't do a huge volume and I work by myself. I guess the obvious solution would be to go with something with a high margin that doesn't weigh much but that's not what I'm seeing. It's like some sellers can't be paying what I think it costs to ship, like they've found a discount shipping service somewhere. Any ideas in that direction?
So you're wondering how someone from China or Hong Kong can offer free shipping on very cheap items? Simple; I know dealextreme (which offers free shipping on everything and is based out of hong kong) has a contract with Hong Kong Air Mail which allows them to ship parcels for literally cents. Quite a few of these companies negotiate shipping prices with their carrier because they ship in large quantities.
even for moderate shippers the discount isn't that big... make sure to compare apples to apples... with usps there is a variety of services, could be you're using priority and they're offering air mail. (obv product dependent). It could be they're toprated seller therefore getting 20%+ off their final value fees and making it up that way, it could also be they're getting the product for less. But no straight and firm answer I think anyone could give you, especially just generally speaking without knowing what you sell and seeing examples of your and sellers stats etc.
Yes, you're onto something there.
Is there any way to protect yourself as a seller on PayPal against chargebacks?
If you're selling something like a virtual service, you can use gift payments to deter chargebacks; however, if the buyer funded using a credit card, they can always file a chargeback claim. To deter this, just accept payment in the form of a greendot card (available anywhere in the United States) and simply load the balance onto your PayPal - that can't be charged back.
take great pictures of item.. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS have delivery confirmation, anything above 250$ i get signature confirmation, get a 3rd party insurance for pennies and insure all items so he can't say it was broken when it arrived, and try to have a good track record.
I assume you are using paypal so I won't even talk about merchant accounts, but try not to have outstanding disputes with ebay or paypal, and the better your feedback the better it looks... but still in the end not much you can do...
just go to youtube and there are 1000s of videos. the worst is amex/paypal combo.... someone orders a 2500 laptop uses amex via paypal.. calls up amex and paypal and gets money back INSTANTLY, and you're screwed, almost impossible to prove.
goodluck
Keep in mind that fraudulently charging back on anything over $400 is considered a felony. While there are people that will do this, most people that are sane wouldn't risk doing it.
hello
pls tell me how to make my auctions displayed on international ebay, not only in my country ebay?
To list your item on the eBay International Market, you only need to specify shipping information for the locations you choose. That means offer shipping to other countries and your auctions will be automatically put onto the international marketplace.
i've been kicked off of ebay before - one of the most souring experiences of all time.
i'm very familiar with the "stealth" method & have been researching forums the past 2 yrs.
my financial situation is reaching a critical mass, and frankly i need to get back on ebay soon to make some extra bucks.
i still have some burning questions when it comes to ebay:
1. what the f&*k are ppl selling to enjoy any kind of longevity on their accts?
. it seems contradictory to me that when asked, every1 will refer you to dhgate or alibaba for sourcing goods, but claim to only be selling legit.
2. is it wiser to ship directly to one's residence, or go on the goose-chase for a reliable dropshipper?
3. what is the best method for acquiring shipping addresses for use with stealth accounts. what do you reccommend.
any light you could shed would be greatly appreciated.
1. Most of the PowerSellers are creatively sourcing their items through personal connections/overstock/have distribution rights to certain products, etc. Alibaba and Dhgate usually don't sell legitimate branded goods, but if you look hard enough, you'll have branded goods that do sell with terrific margins, low complaint rates, and won't get delisted by VERO.
2. It is wiser to ship directly to one's residence, as this would give you full control over your inventory. Nobody cares about your business as much as you do; a dropshipper sure doesn't.
3. You don't need a valid return shipping address on outgoing parcels.
1. no1 will tell you their niche or more importantly supplier -- so they'll send you to the places everyone knows about, where you can still SOMETIMES find reliable stuff. the key is to search for non-branded goods.
2. half dozen in one, six in the other. both have pros and cons. ship from home: quick shipping, know how the product left, but they know where it's coming from (for the most part), you're touching counterfit goods, and outlaying all the capital to get the stuff but you also get a cheaper price per unit. dropship: no outlay first, long delivery time from overseas, don't know how it's packaged or shipped etc, don't know quality unless you get samples.
3. you don't need a working address really. most people change the return address on packages for anonymity. some who are using a business account use po boxes. use an empty house on the same street, etc etc etc.
good luck
I think babypowder has the right idea. Also take in consideration his words of advice.
Hope that answers some of your questions! I'll try to update this thread on a daily basis so feel free to ask any questions about eBay or PayPal!
