It is amazing that you have done so well at the age of 13....it's obvious you are going to do really well in business.

However, my advice is to concentrate on your education. You simply cannot run a full time business whilst you are in full time education. And you cannot concentrate on your education whilst running a full time business.

Your so young, you need to have fun with friends, study at school, and worry about life when your an adult.

I really dont mean any offence, I'm just trying to give you good advice.

But first you have to convince the grown man that a 13 year old kid is actually capable of doing what he says he can. If I was approached by some 13 year old on craigslist or anywhere else and they offered me a job I would laugh. You would really have to convince me. I would rather lose a little cash than a lot of my time. Time is money and most adults understand this. They are not going to give you there time and effort any easier than a business owner will write you out a check at 13 years old. Im not saying you cant do it, Im saying cut to the chase. Go after the paycheck before you start going after employees.

Why tell the one on craiglist that I was only 13? (: What you dont know wont hurt you!

Best regards Minupi

I am really good at school, and the reason why I would need outsources was to make them cover the time were I dont have time, I can do my homeworks in approximate 20min, I would have atleast 4-5hours a day. And I wouldnt need 4-5hours to mail between the outsources, and talking to clients (:
I am sure I can fix that. Also maybe the first client will take alot of time but when I get the hang on it, it will go faster, and again OUTSOURCING is the key too succes atleast, hard work in the start, then outource as much as you can (:!

Best regards Minupi

Ps. I have several other things to use the outsources to, so they wont be left alone :)

Dude, 13 is just too young to run a business. I don't want to patronize you. I had my first website also at 13. I tried starting a web design business. I thought I was knowledgeable and mature enough to handle a business.

Bro, some kids open lemonade stands, this one wants to be an SEO expert. Let him live and learn. He just might be employing all of us someday. :)

Just as Abstroose mentioned, you need to build up that portfolio. You might have to hand out some freebies or ask some people to cover your "costs" while you build that portfolio.

Build yourself a website. It's amazing how much more serious people will take you once they see you have your business website up with a list of services and description of testimonies from other satisfied clients.

And just as someone else pointed out, turn your "weakness" into your strength. Market yourself as the 13 or 14 year old SEO genius guru. People just might be intrigued enough to give you a shot once they hear or read about you.

Learn from your mistakes and always improve your business.

Cheers to your success buddy! :third:

Good luck with that. Let me ask you this, do you think that any joe blow off the street can walk into a business and close the deal on an seo contract? And if it can be done completely over the phone you don't need anyone. Take it from someone who has done plenty of hiring (and firing) while running a large scale business. Good sales people are hard to come by. Another little factoid, a really good sales guy has many options when it comes to employment. You will find that in order to get them to sell for you that you must first sell them on the job. You think you can do that without ever speaking to them or meeting for an interview? good luck on that one too. You will be lucky to get a total rookie if that's how you are gonna go about it. Is that who you want representing you? I am telling you this from real world experience, not a contrived fantasy. You aren't going to find a quick and easy way to build an offline business. The people that you hear about succeeding in a short amount of time, worked there ass off in that short amount of time and likely already had credibility within that field. Another thing to consider, If you dont have confidence in yourself how can you expect someone else to have confidence in you? There are several people in your age range on this forum making more $$$ than some adults. They are taken seriously because they are serious, not because they hide the fact that they are young. You can entertain fantasies all day long till you are old and grey. Or you can work your ass off and turn those liabilities of yours into assets.

Ahh reminds me of the days when i was 13 selling $80 dollar individual pokemon cards to kids parents. I would go home with more money than my dad made in a week in 1 day. But I was stupid and spent the money on worthless stuff instead of my education or future businesses. Now I am a bit older and understand how to manage myself better (kinda) :)

You just have to convince them of the value of your service or product and if you start with a high price and they work you down a couple bucks they will feel like they got the upper hand on a kid genius. You never know the result of an action until it is taken.

And make sure you do your taxes :(

I didnt say that I would use the craiglist thing. I am not hiding my age. As far as confidence goes everybody says I lack it. Right now I am testing my SEO skills on 4 sites to get confidence and to get more skilled and after that I will do some free SEO to get testimonials to use as advertisements. Sorry for any typos as I am using a phone.

Best regards Minupi.

Some kids mow lawns and I don't see why you couldn't do SEO. If you can make it work kudos to you.

You sound like you have the motivation end covered. I also had a few businesses when I was young.

At 7 I repaired bikes, 11 was buying and selling comic book trading cards. I made a lot of money to buy useless stuff I wanted as a kid.

Just don't let your age hinder you or your dreams. Just think, by the time you can legally buy your first drink you could be retired :D

I'd wait a couple more years for face-to-face type of business. However, like someone above said, I've also done SEO and websites for people that I've never spoken to on the phone or met. You just have to offer them a good price with good results.

Be happy about ur young age, you have a big future in front of you, work your ass off for the next 7 years and when your 20 you don't have to think about money ever again. If you or anyone wants to JV with someone who can talk to your clients for you, I have been doing B2B sales for the last 8 years, I deal with business owners every day I can talk to anyone on the phone doesn't matter to me

Haha, but I would'nt retire, I need to do work... It is funny to try and accomplish something also, the feeling when you get something up and running perfectly is just better than anything else I could imagine!

Hello, thanks for your comment!
Also, first I will do some free stuff to get testimonials!
Then I would maybe want to do a JV! (:

If you get good enough results, anyone will do business with you, but I would wait another year or 2, build up success, and make a good rep.

Also, nice to see another young marketer! I'm 15 myself.

Ye hello to you (: I personally thing its good to start at our age! (:

Best regards Minupi!

100% serious right now. Don't say you are a guy say you are a girl.

Over the phone a 20-30 year old female sounds like a 13 year old boy, I kid you not.

Don't push yourself too hard.
You're just only 13 year old.
Enjoy your teenage life.
You can't take your time back once you get older.

I'm young too! Youth is no barrier to great achievements. I would create a link network and save the local SEO sales for when your older.

If you know seo you dont need to open a company now, earn money with your own sites and later you can jv with someone that will sell your product/service.

Dont just comment to get more posts.

Pirondi,
excatly what I thought, actually also what I am doing.
Except that I wont wait till I get older, first I put up a batch of clickbank and adsense
related sites, when I see they work I will outsource the updating on the site, and move
on to my local SEO business.

Martha, I am not going to lie to my clients, in no way.

Joe, thank you for your thoughts but I am enjoying my teenage life.
Lots of friends, lots of girls, sports and family.

Best regards Minupi

Hey Minupi, just wanted to say congrats to you and I am pulling for your success. I started my first business at 12 (It was a chicken farm! Now I work on the internet! Haha!), so I know it can totally be done. My first thought when I read our initial post - have some folks that you know go out and sell your services for a commission. That is what I am starting to do, and I have had lots of folks who are good at sales jump all over the idea.
