It could be legit, it could be a scam, it could possibly not be hamd01 himself but a hacked account.

Regardless, why asking for money? The UK is a social state and even if you don't have ANY money you still get the same medical procedures (provided they work and are needed) as anyone else. I am sure UKs health care is as good as any other system in a developed country.

There are certain set of procedures called experimental that no health plan will cover, and a number of diseases that at present have no cure. Hence why people fundraise in their honour; ever heard of a cancer drive.

If they spent 10 minutes having a google instead of throwing dirt at you they would of found an article on the Ataxia charity page, detailing Millie (and give her surname which matches that of the person who registered the domain - just as you said).

Unfortunately, I have found a lot of people on this forum rather jump up and down shouting scam instead of checking things out.

To everyone else - the guy posted articles in the local paper online, the girl is all over Youtube and is written about on the official Ataxia charity organisation, what else do you want, personal appearance?

Good on the OP for actually using his marketing skills to get the website out into the wild - just because it isn't about a US based individual will instantly turn off 80% of this forum.

Carry on with the promotion of the site, ignore the haters and best of luck mate.

Even "if" this was real you don't post this stuff here because there is too much doubt and (unless you are respected) you're gonna get flamed.

As for the charity, you're better donating to the main foundation as they have the research facilities etc. AND you know it's going to the right people.

I have edited my original post to include the fact that the OP has explained the neg rep and also that the story has been somewhat confirmed. I edited this so that anyone just jumping on the thread would have a chance to decide for themselves before just reading the first few negative comments and leaving. I can not confirm or deny the legitimacy 100% of this guys story or his actual involvement.

Even "if" this was real you don't post this stuff here because there is too much doubt and (unless you are respected) you're gonna get flamed.

As for the charity, you're better donating to the main foundation as they have the research facilities etc. AND you know it's going to the right people.

The idea of the Ataxia charity, is that it supports the suffers of Ataxi, not just pumping 100% into research....which is what the AtaxiaFoundation does.

Personally I've made my donation, I'm going to do some SEO and link building for the website....and I've putting up with 60 minutes of grief here.....so far.

I could understand if the op was asking for donations directly or outside the justgiving page! then it would smell, as I have come across a few scams that use news to get peopel to think they are involved and take money directly.

For all you that do not know of justgiving, they are a highly authorative third party that collects money on behalf of sponsors and passes it directly to the respective charity without it even going anyway near the hands of the original sponsor. Additionally they deal with the UK tax back element of the donation so that additional money from the sponsorer can be claimed back from tax payments made.

Top tip when reading these sorts of threads: Read and Research...... do not Read and React!

You are totally right. The idea of this thread was totally destroyed within seconds.... clearly the people who posted their replies less than 60 seconds after my original post, had done no research AT ALL, but where quite willing to harm a good cause.

I'm just hoping that some people do see this thread and make their own minds up. Every penny help, and this truely is a good cause.

It was a time when BHW was proud to help peoples. I don't like the forum anymore as i used too. To many kids , to many wannabes , to many millionaires. I Don't think that millionaires spent their valuable time , 24H on Forums. Could someone else just not have suggested it without totally slamming him before as a scammer?

Harro eventually did, but even that seems to have been totally ignored.

We have had less worthy (albeit they were still extremely worthy) threads here and on other IM forums that were well responded to.

I am really sorry that the good intention the OP obviously has was taken this way.
