Keyword density question

As I informed before, it was an online tool at hxxp://www(d0t)keyworddensity(d0t)c0m
if anyone could check and confirm if this works or not, I appreciate it. It was the only online tool that gave me 18% and I just can't believe this is working given site stats (3 articles 300~500 words long and following clickbump on page seo for example).


edit: Also, to not open another thread, what is it better for backlink - Backlink to the MAIN site URL or for posts URL? (assuming that I know the risks on directly blast to money site instead of getting some web 2.0 properties).

edit2: Just found out that my website is not ranking (shows up with a big fat zero on traffic travis position check) for my MAIN KEYWORD which is 3 words long, but it is ranking for a 5 word KW which the last 3 words are my main keyword. What the f*** is going on here? I was at #14 a few days ago for my main keyword now I have nothing.

If anyone is willing to help me please let me know I just drop a PM with my URL and keyword. Since my website is in Portuguese I am not worried about someone stealing my KW or something.

Your are shown your keyword density 18%. It is really high. It may affect your ranking. You should minimize it.

Are you sure it's not weighted keyword density? (18% is still extremely high) e.g. A1 Keyword Research gives both normal keyword density and weighted keyword density (the weights are configurable, but e.g. text inside title tag weighs a lot more than normal text)

My keyword is " Perfumes Importados Femininos ". Please note that I do not care about posting it here because this is just a learning site and this is a high commercial keyword.
The majority of the tools are giving me 3~5% but I am very worried about this since the site vanished from SERPs with my main keyword. Note that I did not made any backlinks yet, nothing. I was just letting google index and etc.

I already used that tool too, but when I use some tool that just scan my whole site (including meta tags and etc) the percentage goes very high. Don't know if I got the picture or not in this keyword density thing.

A1 keyword density also gives me some high percentage. What am I missing here?

If you view the source of your website, you can see "Perfumes Importados Femininos" occurs way more than 12 times.

Doing a *quick* manual count gives 32 This number includes the 3 times the sentence is used in tittle attribute for link tag. But it does not include the number of times it is written inside HTML comments. (Of course!)


And A1 Keyword Research also states 32... So overall it seems A1 Keyword Research is correct about count... Do notice that A1 Keyword Research supports finding keywords inside (and apply different weighs) to title, headers, normal text, anchor text, tag attribute title, meta description, meta keywords and words in URL. Example: Keywords in "meta keyword" weigh 0.10 while in title they weigh 7.0 (configurable) You can also apply stop words which will affect results.

(The 3-word sentence percentage in A1KR is calculated compared to other 3-word sentences. I guess exactly how you want density percentage calculated for a 3-word sentences can be different between products.)

I have used several tool for this - all give different results - is there a standard tool

These tools are created separate programmers, each of them has a different definition of a website keyword density. Some tools search the first level (e.g. the links that show up on your main page) some of them go deeper into multi levels (e.g. the links that are IN the links on the main page) .... But I haven't hear of a standard tool created by a major corp.

but what is most important to google and other SE? Do they count those 32 appearances or 12 like other tools stated?

Because my site is OK with many SEO plugins, step by step. If I have to lower keyword density then plugins can't be so accurate.

Do assume search engines analyze your entire content, but of course they weigh some stuff more than other. (Like A1 Keyword Research defaults to weighing text inside title 7 times higher than normal text. You can change that weight if you believe 7 is too little/much.)

Both manual count and A1KR gives 32. If you think some areas should not weigh at all in A1KR density analysis, just set the weight to zero of the given kind of text. It can not be more flexible than that IMO

Keyword density is really not a golden solution to everything. It is a good thing to check that you are witin fair norms, but I would not obsess on it if it's e.g. 3% or 4%

18% is a little too steep. The max I have gone to is 11%.
And i either use the Seobook tools or quirk search status to check keyword density on a page.
