Just Went From #2 to #410

I have a site that was bouncing around at the top of the 2nd page or bottom of the 1st page for a while. Then two weeks ago it dropped into the 180's-190's. This week it came back up to #7 and has stayed.

Hope yours does the same.

Thanks guy's I'm sure it will, it's my first major dance so I'm not used to it. I was dumb and change some on page SEO, hopefully that doesn't effect me too much. I think the changes are for the better but I still should have just waited it out.

I have had the same exact thing happen to me. I was in the number 2-3 spot for my keyword for months then bam spot 500 then spot 753 etc.. this was weeks ago now im at spot 88. I own a lot of websites all with quality content and for the last 3 years this has never happened to any of my sites. The only thing i can think of is maybe i build to many linkpushes to soon. I don't know...

I have been there for a week, I checked this morning and it was at #2 and just checked and it's at #410.

Give it a few weeks before you freak out And in the meantime - keep building good backlinks. You will get back again.

I think if the site drops but still indexed - it's gonna raise a bit later. I see it on my site as well after sb blast.

Sometimes with the blog comments you can be put on a sidebar of recet posts. I know when this happens to me I end up being site wide on a high PR blog and my serps increase very well.

As soon as that blog coments gets pushed off the list I see my site drop in the Serps.

I was on first page in many many keyword, but after a while i dropped to something #22, i hope it is just temporary.

If you do happen to get alot of links removed for whatever reason google does jump on that pretty quickly these days. Especially the low value links. Some people say it has got to do with the social aspect of the google index these days. You go up slowly as links are added. but they drop you like a rock if they think the buzz round your site has gone. major established sites don't seem to suffer from this as much.

ya I had a High 5 PR Link from a harvard blog get deleted but before that link I was at #8 so hard to believe I would drop that far back but maybe that was the problem.

I feel like I just got punched in the gut. My site that I took forever to build the slow way finally got to #2 on google for 22k exact searches a month. I have been there for a week, I checked this morning and it was at #2 and just checked and it's at #410. All my other keywords are still the same but my most important keyword is at 410 and I double checked with other sources and that's right. Is this normal, would the google dance go that far down. I know it just happened but damn, I was finally starting to make some money with this one only to see it do this.

Happens to most of my websites at the 4 month mark. Especially if that keyword was part of my EMD...

:-( I know how you feel, I got kicked to like position 40 I think it was for an exact search of 18k. I was use to the dances; but I just kept building. Im now at position 3.

imo it s not a google dance.i think u should use more anchor texts.it might be a penalty for that keyword

One of my old sites was in top 10 for all main keywords. In the middle of March, shot in the head for all keywords and got a -50 to -80 positions across the board. Site has been there ever since. No sign of growth. No nothing. Site was a store with over 2000 products and unique descriptions for all products, as well as a blog with about a thousand posts, all unique and on topic.

Also just recently in April had another site rise to top 10 for my targetted keywords. Got stuck in position 8 and decided to do some on-site optimization with IBP. Within 24 hours I was gone out of the listings completely, and only a week later the site returned to the 90's positions. Also a huge store with thousands of products.

Google has been nothing but a nightmare for SEO after the Panda update.

I feel your pain by the way, my website after a lot of investments to it got sanboxed a week ago.

I think that sidebar widget killed my site...it made like 300 backlinks indexed and sudendly they were all gone...a couple of days later I got sandboxed. That sidebar widget is trap bigtime.

This happened to me and a few friends the other day. Just typical Google bullshit updates, I'm sure itll bounce back. Keep building content thats solid and backlink it.
