Are you a Youtube Partner? My take on it is that you need to have a channel that is centered around a certain topic, you need a good source of traffic being ppc or search engine. I have seen videos with less then 3,000 views that are Youtube partners. All I have to do is setup a ppc on Youtube, watch my views rise, wait for youtube to send me an email welcoming me to becoming a Youtube Partner? Pm me if you don't want to speak out loud.

Make unique videos (doesn't really matter what), get views (3-10K) a video. Upload one video a day to make some decent money, and you're partner soon.

I have never heard anyone say out loud what they make and I thinks its against the TOS. I think if your channel is in the tech side of thinks the ads pay more but you have to get into the Youtube Keyword Tool and then take a look at the CPM & see how much the advertisers are spending. The more they are spending the more you will make. Once your in the keyword tool you can see the CPM by going through the Youtube Video Targeting Tool. The partnership is only for certain countries.

It depends what kind of ads you have. There is an option to have pre-role ads which pay the most. Or just have ads on the side of the video which don't pay much.

It also depends how many click on the ads, but generally you will get about $1.50 for every 1000 views.

I'm a full youtube partner so I can tell you how much they make. As partner you don't get all the insight in the statistics. Adsence only shows the number of "pageviews" , number of clicks and earnings on a daily basis. So you can't see which vid/keywords pays the best!

Basicly you get paid for clicks on ads. According to YouTube you also get paid for views, but what I can see, it's just a few cents per 1000 views.

To give you an indication of my earnings, I had over 180.000 pageviews last month and 800 clicks, that earned me $130. According to YouTube stats, In that month I only had 80.000 youtube view.

So using that information, you can say that those big youtubers earn about $1500 per million views!
