It is absolutely right; but I belief that proxy sellers are very honest and helpful as well. So, don't be panic. However, the fact depends so need to be careful.

Someone could set up 10 or so proxies used strictly for information sniffing and then say, "Hey BHW, here is 10 free proxies for people to use!". Use free proxies at your own risk.

Don't login to your real accounts on a proxy. Period. Not smart. Doesn't matter where you got them from.

Anytime you connect to another computer that you don't have total control over, you are vulnerable to any software that could be on that computer.
I used to RDC from home to Amsterdam, then from Amsterdam to Korea, then from Korea to proxies for this very reason.

Yes, that is correct. Still, you need to make sure that the site has https:// (and "locked" yellow padlock symbol on your browser) when entering the username/password that will remains in SSL connection after the authentication is entered, then observe that the 2nd page is remained secure. (https:// and "locked" yellow padlock symbol)
