Need help convincing investors to join me

Come to New York City and lay out the whole plan etc etc, if I like the blueprints then we have a JV. :)

Just saying that this will be the only way I would invest in a situation like this.

Well, for most investors, the most important thing will be PROFIT!
How much are you making now, and how big is the market?

Otherwise without any profit, they won't understand what you are talking about.

Or you have the right connections, and find someone who knows about IM & has money to spend / risk.

It sounds like you are all over the place.
First you can make it work with 5k and then
$200 to start.

You have clients lined up, can't you charge them more and get going.

If you are trying to convince people, you need to stick to one amount
of money.

Well, 5k is the "skyrocket" amount. Like I said, $200 is the floor investment amount. Of course it would be nice to have the 5 to work with, but I think I'll start asking for $1000 or $2000, since I can still start up pretty quickly with that. Also, I have clients lined up, but they don't want to pre-pay for a service they haven't even tested first, and I don't blame them.

why not lay out the expected returns for the different investment amounts

you have said it could start with $200 so what would be the time and return on that

then lay out what the bigger amounts would mean to the investor

Excellent idea :)

$200: $20/wk in less than a month, $40/wk in 2 months, $100/wk in 3 months, $200/wk in 5 months

$500: $40/wk in less than a month, $100/wk in 2 months, $200/wk in 3 months

$1000: $100/wk in a month, $200/wk in 2 months

$5000: $100/wk in a month, $200/wk in 2 months, $400/wk in 4 months

It's hard to see the difference in the 1k and 5k returns over the first little bit, but basically the 5k will get the business to the stable point much faster than 1k.

Not at all the case. First off, I'm paying out a significant amount of money to my investor, so I am by no means trying to reap all the rewards for myself. Secondly, I said that I would pay back the investor in my own time. I guarantee any investment made with me will not be lost, and I tell people that. Clade, we have never done business together, so I see no reason for you to have any input regarding my ethics. If you think I'm such a crook, open a Shit List thread and have me banned; but please refrain from dragging my name through the mud in my own thread where I'm simply asking the people of BHW for advice.

How are you going to guarantee the investment? You don't even have $200 bux under your name. You remind me of a guy/gal named Bruce Beerman, Kimberly Journey, Eli the "lawyer". Anybody that has PM'ed OP asking about the investment,
DO NOT INVEST ANY MONEY IN THIS.

You've been warned!

People that don't know how to make $200 will not make you that "hefty" amount they guarantee.

Betting this to 90% be a scam and just well laid out scam, by a well-spoken crook, POS, low-life.

albaniax, OP doesn't even have $200 under his name. He mentioned this in his earlier post.

You're a genius, this is a big flag that this is just a big failed scam attempt.

I hope I hurt his feelings.

So Clade, it's impossible that I could just have a fairly low-paying job that doesn't allow for me to spend a thousand dollars like that, and that I want this to move as quickly as possible, so I want a high investment to take this off the ground before anyone else gets the idea? Sorry for being ambitious.

Where did I mention that I don't have $200? I simply don't have $200 in readily disposable income. I'm not living out of a cardboard box.

I hope I hurt his feelings.

How childish.

If you think its gonna guarantee you a decent payday, save up, sell some stuff, sell your car, borrow a little, to get yourself up and running, then you should be all good when your residual income is flowing in. then you can re-invest or whatever.
alternatively if its not so black hat and a geniune business idea, go to the bank with your business plan and get a loan

DMS where you based ?

you state you need people to invest $5,000 but could get started with $200
what would you spend the $200 or the $5,000 on ?

I never said I needed $5k, I said "under $5k". 5 is the most I'd have the nerve to ask anyone to invest, and I certainly don't expect it; but I'll present it as an option. On the other side of that coin, there's the low extreme. $200 is the lowest I could start with, and the profit would be a slow trickle at first, before I save up enough from the business to re-invest the larger amounts myself.

I think though, that some of you guys are right. I'll wait a few days til I can post in the JV thread, put a thread up there, and if that doesn't work out I'll go for a $1k loan from the bank.

And Clade, I work hard to gain a decent rep on here. Don't drag my name and reputation through the mud and neg rep me just because you're mad at me for some reason.

Wow, guys... How many of you that are calling me scammer have done business with me? How many of you have even spoken to me directly? How many of you know me well enough to appraise my personal ethics? None of you. I have done good business with several people on this forum, and I have given away a few free services in the past. The one time I was unable to complete an order that someone filed with me, I gave them a full refund. I keep good contact, respond promptly to PM's and emails, and I'm even willing to give out my personal cell phone number. I have done nothing in my 3 months here that would give anyone reason to doubt my ethics. I have been a little scatterbrained in my explanation of this whole investment business; I admit that. However, if anyone needs anything cleared up (such as the way a $200 investment is the floor amount to start, and $5000 is the ceiling), I'm happy to PM them about it. But for God's sake, stop judging someone you barely know a thing about. It's dragging my reputation on these forums into the ground, and it isn't right when all I've done is give to the people of BHW.

No you're right, no one should judge anyone they don't know...good or bad.

That's the point I think "most" people are making....that you have to prove yourself good....because people are hesitant to make decisions on the unknown...because they don't have enough information to make a choice.

So i think people would just rather err on the side of caution then just go into something blind

I agree with that, and I completely understand being hesitant about investing any amount of money in a "new guy". I'm not even saying that I've entirely broken free of that status yet. I just don't appreciate the straight-up disrespect.

It seems no matter what, you will be given a hard time (here and other places) asking for an investment of such a low value. I guess it does make you seem a bit un-prepared when you don't even have $200 to invest into your own idea.

That being said - go to fiverr or oDesk, post a thread here in BHW offering a service and get that money up. I can tell you right now, pay the small fee to make a service, do a damn good job at it (over deliver) and you will get more people coming back and I will tell you now - that $200 IS NOTHING. You could make it in a day, even. Seriously, I am not joking.

If you own ScrapeBox and can use it decently - you already have the knowledge to make money.

If you own SB, make your own auto approve list - make a BST thread here and sell it. Sell limited copies if you like, whatever - but you'll make that $200 in seriously NO TIME.

Or, don't make auto approve lists and just use the lists you make (your personal ones) and offer a link building service here. Target the people with lots of sites by offering HUGE blasts (none of this 1K or 5K blast crap) but offer them 100K or 200K or 500K links - something larger. Give them a really good price (in the end it will be worth your while anyway since it is just one customer not 10) and do it. You'll make your money.

There is ways to make money and the above ways I just said work. Check the BST, these services are there because they work and they will help you make your $200 in no time. You just need to work and give it a go. If you don't have SB right now - well that sucks, not much I can do to help I don't think.

But if you DO have it, then take action on what I said. And if you do not take action on the above, then in my honest opinion, you are not too enthused about your whole business idea.

Goodluck and I hope it works out.

No, you're right. I do not think you should be disrespected either but I am not going to go into any of that. Read what I wrote above, hope it gets you thinking and maybe (who knows) you won't need to have any financial help to get your service up.

I am making a service as we speak, and have spent thousands already to get it to where it is (and probably a fair bit more to invest coming) but at least I know I am not depending on someone else for financial support, nor will I need to answer to anyone should the business work and generate a lot of revenue. I invested. I took the risk. Now I will keep the profits (if it works). This is best. When you deal with others, that's when trouble can potentially start to happen. They want to do something differently to you, and since they're the ones bringing in the money - you don't have too much of a choice.

Thanks man, that is one of the only genuinely helpful posts in this thread so far, and I really appreciate it. I know BHW isn't full of clades, but it's nice to have a reminder that there are some really helpful people out there. If, in another few days, the investor approach doesn't work, I'll come at it from this angle. My job doesn't give me a whole lot of spending money, but if I cut back here and there I should have enough for a thread and SB by next week :)
