Been using Hostgator for several years for a couple of my autoblogs. They just shut down one of my sites, for the second time in the past year. The first time I followed the instruction to set up w3 total cache per their instructions. Now just a few months later, I'm shut down once again on the same site with another email citing instructions to install w3 total cache. I'm sick of this shit. My site has about 9000 pages and they are unhappy with the server load. I make the monthly payment and dont exceed my bandwidth or storage requirements. What gives?

Its not only about the bandwidth or the storage requirements. Your sites / blogs must be using a lot of CPU power / RAM etc., which means other sites might not get the cpu power / memory to serve.

Yes, both email and chat two days in a row. But inevitably I will have to take the site or look for alternative hosting. Seems like we are having some sort of standoff.

Its not only about the bandwidth or the storage requirements. Your sites / blogs must be using a lot of CPU power / RAM etc., which means other sites might not get the cpu power / memory to serve.

Agreed, but I'm not running any labor intensive plugins or doing anything out of the ordinary. I'm only adding about a dozen new posts per day. It seems a little unreasonable that I cant run a simple wordpress blog with 9000 posts. I'll post back here when I see how it finally ends.

I've already pointed that out to them twice, but they seem not to give one shit about that. Kind of frustrating, since I had already followed there instructions precisely from the prior shutdown.

So your one of the reasons my sites have been running slow... . but seriously, a few weeks ago hg said something about certain people using to much power with their sites (autoblogs etc) as people have been complaining of their normal sites (like my sale site) loading slowly. Other Host have been having the same problem from what people are finding out, apparently the autoblogs drain shared servers.

Your only option is to really upgrade for the VPS package and similar at other host, or get your own dedicated server yourself.

I'm kind of expecting Hostgator to say the same thing. I just have not really had the extra $ for better hosting lately. I'm still kind of learning and just finding my way around. The $24.95 per month seemed like the right price when I set it all up. Sorry that you're running slow, actually I had noticed a little slowdown recently on the site we're discussing in this thread Hoping to hear more from tech support yet today. Will keep you posted. Yeah I have had them shut down by hostgator myself a few times. All were autoblogs as well. I moved to the reseller account from the baby account and all has been well since(knock on wood).

Oh, if your using statpress reloaded plugin it can cause real problems and also plugins like yet another related post can cause problems as well.

I have a few other sites with Hostgator, just simple landing pages though. Of course, there are no issues there. I'm just not sure I really want to spend $ on better hosting. The site we are discussing hardly makes anything, but I hate to just throw it away when I have thousands of indexed pages and now some age to the domain.

My account is the reseller account, the one for $24.95 per month; that is why I was a little surprised that they were giving me all of this shit. I use minimal plugins and nothing really elaborate. I do believe they are simply targeting obvious autoblogs.

Everytime I had a problem on the baby account they would send an e-mail that listed all the processes running so you should be able to identify the problematic plugin or code from that I think.

I've never seen the cpu load much past 5 (16 cpus) and usually at just 2 or 3 on my reseller account though one night late it was processing logfiles and it was at 15 I think.

I mean..have a chat. Explain your requirements, the sizes and loads of your sites and trust them to offer something which will not only give you a seamless perfect service but will be easy on the pocket too.

They will help you whereas it looks like Hostgator are just messing you about.

Thanks, I will look closer at the initial email with the list of running processes and queries. At first glance, the list seems kind of cryptic. Where should I look for where the server load is measured?

At the top the load average is high-17,20,15
And in this case I believe it was the index page that was causing the high load(bad example) the 4th process down with the 10.0,9.0,9.0

I think the server load should be 1 or less per cpu on the server(i am not expert but I think that's right). Above that and they get cranky if the process last for a minute or more(and that usually is the problem).

In cpanel on the left make sure you have stats expanded and at the bottom on server status you can click to view the server load and other stuff.

Wordpress can be very resource intensive. Your site is causing a high load on the server and effecting everyone on the server. We cannot allow everyone else's sites to have a slowdown because of the load caused by your site. If there are not any other changes you can do to reduce the load then it would need to moved to a dedicated server.

I understand what you are saying, but I am concerned that you are raising this issue when this particular site has been running in this exact fashion for many, many months. Obviously, the only thing that has changed is that you have decided that you will suddenly become intolerant to this type of site. You should have raised this concern immediately when I opened up shop. My use of resources has not increased or changed at all for months or months. Why have you suddenly changed the rules of the game? Are there too many of these types of sites that you have to adjust policy like this? I have a reseller account that should be able to accommodate this type of site. This is very, very poor service.
