Profile backlinks - still got linkjuice?

they still work but you need knowledge how to tackle link-building process because only profiles will not give you desired results...

I've heard that google's algorithm can tell where the link is coming from. So if its coming from a USER CREATED profile then google just ignores those links. Same thing for comments on wordpress/blogger etc.

Basically google doesn't like links that were created by people other than the webmaster. Stuff like profile links, forum signatures, blog comments are easily detected in google. Google knows people go around using xrumer to spam forums and blogs, so google just ignores those links.

From my experience getting those types of links don't do anything for me. Getting blog post links, link exchange and buying links is what has worked for me.

I think the only reason people still use those methods is because at one point doing that type of link building did work. However, google is constantly getting smarter and smarter each day. They devote alot of time making sure no one gets an unfair advantage. The most effective seo is that which google thinks the webmaster placed it there, for example, a blogroll link, a blogpost link etc. People think that ALL links are counted and that is simply not true. People will say, "well a backlink is a backlink and over time, that link gets better." Well, if google COMPLETELY IGNORES that link then how is that helping you out?

Yes in someway you are right but also in the other hand you are wrong.
Google also don't like websites that sell or buy links so it doesn't matter.

Build quality backlinks (Blog Posts,Blog comments ,Article Directories etc)
Write Quality and unique Content.
Try to be as not spammy as you can

If I put a blog post with a link someplace, how does google know if that is a link I put there because I liked the site or because someone paid me to put it there? Google knows that people go around spamming forums, profiles, blogs etc. so they just discount those links big time.

Google knows that content farms (article directories) use user submitted content. As a result, they dropped those article directories lower in google search AND discounted the links from those articles to some extent. Why do you think people's rankings dropped for people who used lots of article directory submissions? There was a thread not too long ago about people complaining of loss of rank. Just goes to show that google is changing how to detect good links and bad links.

Are you saying then that all visitor submitted content is suspect in Google's eyes? If that be the case then all web2.0 sites are suspect: Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, all bookmarking sights, all these sites. Backlinking as we know it is a thing of the past. But the, as I recall, a Google exec just recently said they were placing more emphasis on Social Site Buzz. Did they change their mind?

Waiting for other to link back to you naturally is like lying down and wait for someone to bring food to feed you.
I think user created links still work but you need to diversify the types of link, link anchor text... and it will be safe and effective

Yes it can't detect but they know that links are being sold and they don't like it and it is = blog comments , profile links.
The same they know that this are spammy or peoples are paid to do this kind of job but they still give value to them.

I know that a blog post is a better than a blog comment but i just wanted to let you know that still the hierarchical algorithm to choose the site is the same.

to get juice in links from blog comments try to post on blogs where is low obl don't forget because the Google Algorithm count this too.
Who commented the first or second or Top10 First get more juice in links than the person who posted the 100-th comment on the post.
Basically you have to know the tricks that google provokes the Webmasters. It isn't just for Black Hat but the same goes also for White Hat.

Also if they dropped the pr of Articles it doesn't mean that they are not valuable anymore.

Lets get an Example if your site is PR3 and it was PR4 It doesn't mean that i won't get a link from your site if i post an article there, is it true..?

Maybe the links from article directories don't have the same value as before but they are still worthy if you are trying to rank on top of Google.

Google Just wanted to put down some sites (a lot of them) like autobloggs and sites like that and after 1 month the same system of rankings will be again with some small changes.

There is some validity here. The "farmer" goog update is going after CONTENT, but I think it's also looking to demote links that are easy to game. Try some searches with the name of a a social website and then a username...see how well it comes up. Wish I'd tried some searches like that a month ago to see how the SERPs changed.

So much BS going round and round. Who really knows what the Google Algorithm is? They keep that pretty well locked down. Google is not the only search engine in the world either.

I would advice everyone building profile backlinks stop doing it, there is no related content to begin with in a profile. Spend your time doing something else, this isn't going to help you. Trust me, I know. Google is smart always remember that, they know if your trying to break the system building these links.

Lol, I bet that your website is about a niche which got no competition.

I've been using xRumer to build profile backlinks to my Micro Niche Sites which shouldn't even need much SEO work to rank well, and I'm not getting any juice at all from these links.

I prefer the good old blog commenting and bookmarking, I don't believe in Profile Backlinks anymore...
