We are a UK based IT Consultancy offering outsourced IT services. I designed the whole site, buttons and pictures myself. I randomly goggled my company name and found a company in the USA who have copied everything and the content and changed the company name referenced throuout the site with theirs.

This main issue is we now have dupe content in many places!

They have a phone number which i will call on Monday. And no address.

I can prove that they have copied me and i have not copied them because they still reference our company name in some of the meta titles which they missed!!

Im really pissed off at the moment and want to know how i can get this website DOWN FAST!

Please can anyone advise the best method to get this down? and who i should contact?

thanks,

Mike

Send a DMCA notice to their host, be sure to get screenshots with the meta tags in case they remove them.

after you call them they wil make those corrections as well.. so make sure you somehow record that your company is still there in their tags...

someone will be able to help you better though...

Someone did the same to one of my sites but I really don't mind as they failed
to change some of the monetizing methods I have on the site to their account
and now I am making money off of them.

The other thing they failed to do was to change the tracking information I use so now I know where they advertise and have followed them there as they are making me some nice bank so I thought I'd just take advantage of their advertising arena.

Hi, we may have a solution for you. We are in Texas. Post your email here, I will contact you. We cannot PM here yet.

Hi all thanks for the comments so far, i will look into DMCA.

Also do DMCA charge only on success?

TBH if my site was just an affiliate site i would not care. but this is actually my main business website that i have designed.

my email is

Thanks all!

I would just tell them that they have 7 days to take down the site before legal action is taken. Don't provide them with any information that you found about the Title tags etc. Usually the threat is enough to have them take it down. You can also report them to Google and have them possibly removed from the index (highly unlikely it will do anything though)..

I'd check the source of their site to see if they are leeching any images directly from your server. if they did a half arsed job they might still be suing your images from your server. if they are, fun time.
Copy and rename the file on your server to for example logo2.png, and change all referenced to it in your code and upload it.
Then either create a nice big image with text explaining that this site is a scammer and in breach of copyright and shouldnt be trusted blah blah blah. Or some really offensive image that will cause embaressment, drop a quick email to their local news station outlinining the website image ( get the local station using the area code on phone numbers.)

What is the url of their offending website?

Fun time to be had on Youtube, exposing the thieving little barsteward.

If you are an IT consultant and if you know SEO give them a little surprise and spam their domain name all over then ping Go0gle with spammed results. Them being a new website they will get de-indexed for good. Of course this doesn't guarantee that they wouldn't get another domain name and do the same thing again.

That's stupidity to the maximum.

Make some screenshots as evidence, after that. You send them an invoice on whatever YOU want to charge them for using your stuff, and give them 8 days to pay the invoice and delete EVERYTHING. If they dont, send a lawyer after them (And yes this is a proven and working method...)

hi all, sorry for the late reply. thanks for all your reply's. I have done as ExobiT advised and also sent them a nice invoice. I did this 3 days ago and no reply. Under further investigation i can see that they have around 3 domain names all pointing to the same stolen website. id assume that the webhosting is the same so shouldn't be an issue once the files on the webserver are deleted.

currently i have had no reply from them. my next action is to contact the web host about this for them to delete it.

The other thing that is now de-motivating me to do anything is that there are around 20 - 30 businesses if not more who have stolen our content word for word! they have their own template and design but the content is now duplicated.

If Google don't like stolen content and rank sites with dupe content lower how will this affect me?

im hoping Google have an "indexed date" on their database so they can identify who is the author of the content and who has bastadised their work!?

Its a full time job to contact all of these websites and its really pissed me off. We took time to write all of our content on our website. a near 50 pages. now its all shite because others are taking it!

How old is your content ? Basicly "who came first" with the content (i know you did, but do google)

lol someone did that to a forum I was posting on (promoting my site). Well they copied everything including all my links so it worked out nice for me lol.

and personally I wouldn't get too mad. Someone coped your design? pff, who cares. How is that going to affect YOUR business? If someone copied my design I wouldn't care, not worth my time and hassle.

The content was unique and indexed by us first. Killer2021 you are right. the issue is that the whole of their content on every page is the same so we have dupe content!

we take so much time getting it all sorted for some bastard to take it and duplicate it!

You should be proud of your affiliates :)

Can you direct me to more information on this? I have someone harassing me and my company and would love to do this.
