Can a Wordpress site ever make #1 on G00gle?

Got it.
Thanks.
But if google only refreshes (indexes) my site every 3 weeks or so, how will they know? The time stamps on the blog entries?

Don't worry,google bot will be everyday,hundreds of times .
every post pinging, from rss and so on.

Wow, I didn't know that...
Then why does it take forever for my backlinks to showup on backlinkwatch?!?!
I'm going to have a heart attack.
:P

Platform doesn't matter at all, as long as you have good onsite optimization and backlink source. One thing, Google loves web 2.0 sites and WordPress is one of them..

Thanks Ph SEO,
I've heard about web 2.0, but is web 2.0 a fancy name for an interactive website or am i missing something??

Problem I find with wordpress blogs is you have to keep adding content. stop for even a short period of time and you start going back down the serps. I find standard template type sites harder to initially rank but once ranked you dont have to add content as often. Not sure if google thinks because it is a blogging cms it expects constant content and updates.

I have a wordpress site, i use 1 page (not posts) and set it as home page, i have 500 word article on there, i have keyword in the URL, and it currently ranks number 1 in google for a keyword with searches of 3,600 local exact per month, best thing is ive hardly done any link building for it, just a couple of blog posts on another blog of mine, its 3 months old, i made it on a friday and by monday it was on page one google!

Only bad thing is i dont recieve anything from it as im employed! and make them for my employer! :(, im sure it would make you a nice bit of income, as it is a product and people only search for it cus they wana buy it! i have made 40 sites now, all using wordpress, best way to go i think. just use all in one seo, and make sure the content is unique and relevent, and good for reading, my articles cost $6 each which is a bargain, but my writer, is the dogs!!and have good relationship going with her!

Wordpress is just fine with Google. We use it as a preferred platform because of its ease of use.

Yes. We have several WP sites ranked #1 on Google, Yahoo, and Bing.

Focus on:

1. Configuring WP for maximum SEO results. Look around this site for great WP SEO plugins.

2. Use a keyword domain. Google results are weighted in favor of keyword domains. Complete keyword in the domain is what I mean by keyword in domain.

3. Real time, original, user-generated content. Google will index your content within minutes if it's in the twitter style format of fast user -generated interaction.

Lots of other tips around this site.

In the long term, stay away from short cuts - they will only "cut you short"

also review the themes. These can have an effect on your on page optimization. A good reference site is themegrade.com
Yes WP can rank 1st page as I have 5 on first page for 5MM terms.

I bought a great niche domain, there is medium competition, but I thought I would keep the site fresh and post articles directly to the site relating to the domain and keywords.
My question is:
If onsite SEO and content is good and I hire a third party to start posting backlinks can it EVER be #1 even if it is just a wordpress site?

P.S. The current #1 spot is a full blown website with over 200 internal pages and over 3000 backlinks.

Yes for "jackblammer specialist espy-ala-docious monkey boy"

jk...point is if it's long tail yes!

google loves wordpress, because the average user can put on fresh content very easily up in no time. Try looking into thesis theme for wordpress. I have had extreme results with it, beating big time competition.

good luck

Yes, if it's a niche that no other higher ranking site is about or using.

Absolutely, just improve your wordpress (SEO) and you're website will #1 at Google :)

I got good number of wordpress sites ranking for good number of competitive keywords in different search engines...

It depends upon your on page and off page work...

I own 3 WordPress websites alone that rank #1 in Google for their primary keyword. In fact, I would recommend WordPress as a great starter website from an SEO perspective. Out of the box, it is very SEO friendly.

Never looked at WP before really. Is there an ideal/ newbie very friendly ' out of the box' theme or package you'd recommend ?

Have proper on-page optimization in your blog, update the blog with unique content in a frequent manner, build backlinks regularly and ranking won't be difficult provided that it is achievable....

My personal best is 11 minutes and 30 secs to number 1- with "Just a WordPress site...

You might own a Ferrari but do you really know how to drive it?
