I don't know if any of you read Matt Cuntts blog but he's been spouting off about a change to the algorithm that is suppose to target scrapers and other low quality sites. Just out of curiosity, has any one seen a change for their sites in the past few weeks?

I have this theory that google uses him to weed out the gamerz. When he talks people react and make all sorts of changes willy nilly. I know I used to, and I saw my sites suffer as a result. Building your sites as you normally do without changing stuff each time he speaks is a better long-term strategy in my humble opinion, and in my limited experience.

Not only all my blogs are ranking the same (most on page 1), but also a lot of other autoblogs targeting the same niches keep being in similar positions as always... They are probably "trying" to change the algorithms without doing too harm to THEMSELVES..

As a bing developer recently said in a roundtable about cutting spam, google is merrily profiting from each and every spammy autoblog out there, so I'm sure that no matter what Cutts says, at Mountain View they'll be extremely careful before ditching a consistent portion of their own fat earnings...

This just looks like an effort on Googles part to do a better job of making sure the original source for any content should have a good position in the serp for that content. Google's goal is always to provide the most relevant results to searches. If you're creating a bunch of low quality spammy type sites then google is always trying to figure ways to rank more relevant sites above you. If you're creating decent websites that search visitors will want to visit, then even if its an aggregator website google doesn't mind serving up your site in the serps. They aren't necessarily penalizing autoblogs per se, if you make a good autoblog that visitors find useful then you'll still be ok. All they're trying to do is make it harder for crappy websites to succeed.

Well that's the million dollar question right there.

How to create a good autoblog is a matter of making the right judgment calls on you're part and testing to see what works.

Basically if you're getting a lot of return visitors, then you've accomplished making a site that visitors find useful. If it was easy then everyone would be doing it. :cool2:
