Whatever they did, it is working. My autoblogs vanished from their rankings.
    Time to do some changes...

my auto blog is still right where it has been for a two months now. I'm wondering if one of my plugins has somthing to do with it. Not sure If I should mention which one though. I Know that g@@gle scans these forums for insight.

i never get this dup content shi t. I mean, plenty of authors syndicate their stuff to different news outlets, and plenty of news outlets use quoted material, official statements, data, etc.. I think this is a case-by-case situation because if it was applied across the board, a whole lotta sites, and major ones, would suffer. Has to be more to it than just dup content.

Maybe they will apply it to sites with PR below a certain cut-off, so all PR N/A, PR 0, PR 1 etc with dup content go and the higher ones stay. Who knows. But this would still screw over some legitimate sources.

I think like most Google Algorithm Changes, this one too would only be a half success. Like in the past they claimed to have developed link quality evaluation techniques but still today we see Xrumer and SB comment spammed sites ranking. Then they claimed t o have developed a method to de-index or lower the rankings of Micro Niche sites but even today a lot of them continues to rank.

And now this thing about Content farms and Duplicate Content- rest assured only 50% of Autoblogs and other such sites would be affected by it.

My idea has always been to add some original posts to your autoblogs always say where the content is from and if you have the time add your own take on the content to the top of the post and you will be safe.

Makes you wonder why they dont just penalise sites pointing traffic towards affiliates. Most of the spam is spam used to generate traffic for sales to these networks in the first place.

You know what guys, this Algorithm change is a rather fast move from Google, partially as a result of recent outcry from several sections in the online media regarding the increasing spam in Google search results.

On 1st January, there were lots of discussions regarding this particular post by techcrunch, which pointed to lack of freshness and comprehensiveness in Google results:

    Code:
    http://techcrunch.com/2011/01/01/why-we-desperately-need-a-new-and-better-google-2/
And now after 3 weeks Big G anti spam team have tweaked their algo. It seems that techcrunch and similar posts in leading online media sites had hurt Big G's reputation.

so wouldn't this open up a way to google-bomb competitors?

    If summary of statement is:

    - google states that sites that have "more original content" rank better
    - google states that sites that have "less original content" rank worse

    theoretically:

    - if a competitor's site was scraped, and reposted many many times over, wouldn't their site be seen as "heavily duplicate" as well?
    - if a competitor's site is seen as "heavy duplicate", wouldn't they experience a negative in the SERPs?

    therefore:

    - could a competitor's rankings be dropped by heavily re-syndicating their content?

One of my Blogs has dipped, well disappeared but I can get that back in about a weeks time.
The other ones are exactly where they should be page 1 @ pr 1.

I don't technically scrape content, I use several news feeds intermixed with an Amazon Plugin, wp zon builder.
