You kinda need anchor text but it is a nice trick to build some backlinks

Lazyboy, you can add anchor text. I do it on some of mine. so when you scroll over it you will see my keyword.

also if were benefiting from the smiliey link even though there is no anchor, wouldnt it be even better to link Punctuation marks instead? For example i could write something like this in a forum.

"Article writing....it's great for traffic!!!!!!" <------------- in that one sentence I could link each period in the "......" the appostraphe in "it's"v, and the exclamation marks in "!!!!!!!!!"

That won't work on most forums since the links will be underlined and/or a different color than regular text.

Example: "Article writing....it's great for traffic!!!!!!"

Ok, since i am in a good mood tonight i am going to pull out of my magic hat another small trick used more for entertainment purpose - (but also quite effective). http://www.google.com

In short: spam forums or blogs or comments and link back to your site using a smiley as an anchor text. Your hidden link will go unnoticed but it will help you as far as seo is concerned - despite not having a proper anchor text.

If you click any of the above smiles it will lead you to another website.

You can post on forums and include a smiley backlink, or you can leave a comment on a wordpress blog and include a smiley backlink, and the mods will have a hard time detecting your hidden link cause the smiley will look just normal.

You can create an image of a smiley, and then cookie stuff with the image method using a innocent smiley, well... you know.... a lot of possibilities.

It works extremely well and it gives you a lot of trust rank , page rank and serp juice, despite not having the anchor text.

Because you don't fucking spam forums like digital point. You spam forums that DO NOT ALLOW signatures...therefore, on that page, your link will be the only one and A LOT OF THE juice will be pass to you...

YOU SPAM EDU FORUMS, forums that do not allow links in signatures, you can look at old threads in forums that have already gained page rank, and insert your link there.

Since you are the only link on that page--- guess what... all the juice will go to you.

Would you say that, even without anchor text, this would work better posted on forum topics relevant to your site?

As far as I understand it, some relevant text like,

Keywords, SEO, and backlinks are all important when ranking for http://google.com

amounts to more than just a link that says "Search Engines" on a page that has nothing to do with them. So shouldn't a smilie anchor text work better when used in a relevant post?

good point....which is why blog commenting with this method probably won't be as effective...imo
