I really think the term "backlink" need refining. A backlink is only actually any use if Google has indexed it.

What is a backlink: It is a link from a webpage pointing back to YOUR website.

What is indexing: When google finds a page and adds it to it's database (at which point it will appear in search results)

What is an indexed backlink: When Google finds a page containing a baklink to YOUR website

So for example buying 70,000 backlinksis for $400 all very good, but if Google actually only indexes 200 of those backlinks....then as far as Google is concerned you have 200 backlinks. You bought 70,000 backlinks, but you actually only have benefit from 200 of them.

Services which produce backlink (IMO) should put more emphasis on getting the backlinks indexed rather than just blasting away creating random backlinks. There is more work getting a backlink indexed than getting a backlink in the first place.

There are various methods to get a backlink indexed;

Create an RSS feed containing your backlinks, and mass submit the RSS feed to RSS directories.

Create lots of backlinks to your backlinks

Pinging

The situation is compounded when you see people paying a lot of money for expensive Link-Wheel structures. The link wheel is effectively just a number of backlinks until Google sees and indexes all of it. Which might never happen.

There are lots of n00bs purchasing backlinks on mass thinking its the answer to SEO, and it simply isn't!

I agree with you. If you do to many backlinks you will get sandboxed also. Hence wasting your money for nothing. But i laugh at people who buy 100,000's + backlinks and only 200-1000 actually show up.

SEO is something that some people wont understand.

What if you purchase "high quality" backlinks? (for example, .gov, .edu, high pagerank)

Only purchasing 100 to 500 of these should do a better job of 70,000 crappy backlinks, no?

Plus with this smaller number its easier to do things like submitting to RSS feeds, and social bookmarking.

Thoughts?

Because Backlinks = Seo Fuel

uh..backlinking services do just that ;create backlinks. its up to you to index them. Do you buy a set of shoes and expect the manufacture to tie your laces also?

Would you laugh if i bought 100,000k links PR5 and i have 80k of those links pointing to my site.

If you pruchased 100,000 and you have 80,000 sites pointing to your own, it means that the people creating the backlinks had 80% sucecss.....thats good. However, it doesnt mean that Google has indexed them....so it wont help your ranking at all.

Of those 80,000 sites where you link is posted, how many has Google actually indexed? If you check you might find it to be maybe 200-300.....so you only actually have 200-300 backlinks.....not 80,000.

I wasnt saying that backlinking services have done anything wrong..... I was just pointing out the fact that there needs to be more emphasis on getting the backlinks indexed....or at least making people aware that they need to get them indexed.

Totally agree. As long as you get those high-quality backlinks indexed.

A PR8 backlink has the same falue as a PR0 backlink if it hasnt been indexed.....no value whatsoever.

Any chance you can pm me your site URL?

Ok fair point....but I'm sorry.... he bought 100,000 backlinks and has 90,000 indexed? I think not.

If you blast 100,000 profile backlinks the chances are you will end up with a few hundred backlinks indexed.

You have a good point, but the only answer is education. Unfortunately, the exact same people who need to read this are the folks who are least likely to delve more deeply into SEO. They are looking to spend a few $$'s in the hopes of getting a one-stop one-step SEO solution. Then they'll post a thread talking about how they aren't making any money and that all of IM is a scam. This forum is full of resources for them to learn what they need to know, but many of them choose not to dig in.

There are those other services of course but they don't cost $25 / 50 000 links, rather it's $5000 / 10 000 guaranteed indexed, all pr5 and above. I usually only use these as the OP is correct in his thoughts and the money is tax deductible and the investment is well worth it if you are aiming high and there are paying advertisers. Such packages are just not marketed in places where there is no demand for them.

Yea Backlinks do 60-70% of the work. But you need Backlinks from High PR and High Authority Domains to gain trust. Its not all about massive Backlinks which dont get indexed at all!

The real problem (usually) is what people do after the services vs the services themselves. If focus is put on getting links towards those 2.0 properties then you'll receive the full benefit otherwise it's just another low level link.

there are many things that determine your ranking. things like domain age, keywords in the heading and title, no. of competing websites and as well as the number of backlinks you have. Well, i have to say backlinks help, but this is together with the other factors I've mentioned.

I bought an expired domain and built a new webiste on it. Right now, I only have 14 profile links indexed but i'm on the first page of G for a KW with 12K competition.

Really don't understand who is noob. Most of the people who buy backlinks because they don't want to waste time doing that job. They can earn much more if they focus on other things, rather than spending time for that work.
:pat:

Backlinks IS SEO.

And it doesn't matter if the links doesn't get indexed right away.

It' supposed to appear natural to Google, thus picking it up overtime.
