hmm that's a hard question but I think that a registrar likes to keep it's domains parked if they're not pointing anywhere.

1. Will changing registrars reset a domain's age? I remembered the commissionblueprint guys say it will but would like to know your options.

2. I have an aged domain and it's not ranked well for any keywords of a niche and seems to be sandboxed(the keywords I target are all ranking in 500+), if I change all the content in the site and target another niche, will it be possible to rank for the new keywords?

3. Can an aged domain with pr be a penalized domain or sandboxed domain? If so how do you avoid them when buying?

Hi...I have a 10 year old domain in a very competitive area. It's been online for most of the 10 years... but was offline for about 6 months up until august. I brought the site back online and within days google started sending traffic again. Google is recognizing all of the links that have been in place for in some cases 6 to 7 years. Some of these are authority links. Total links are just over 1,000. I need to do some link programs to push up some keywords where i'm currently ranking between position 20 and 50. 1st page on these would equal significant traffic.

How heavy of a link building campaign do you think the site could handle before it became sandboxed or penalized in some way? Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciate.

Please if you could let me know which of the following is the best sign to buy the expired domain through freshdrop.net ? I have just registered there for trial Pro account and have been playing with all the fields for 8 hours now.
As I can see there are a lots of good signs to buy like:
1. Presence in Yahoo directory
2. Having PR 2+ (not faked)
3. Age 5+
4. Traffic ?? - some have some not, dunno here if i should consider it
5. Index in Google is mandatory if I got you right
6. Google searches for keyword-prase
7. Google average income for ads to see if it monetizable

I understand all the fields clearly but it's really hard to decide which of these factors are the most important and which I should put my decision on to buy a domain?

Few years back google automatically sandboxed all expired domains. Back then I was able to get pages listed np but no matter what was done they were buried until they came out of sandbox.

Has this change?

Back in the 90's I used to make web pages for family and friends using the www myISPadress /~user-name and have played around with this page ever since because it comes free with my ISP. I have often wondered why sites I put on this page always ranked very easy compared to new sites I started. After reading these posts I checked and it is showing age from 1999. I never knew it was looking at the age of the ISP. I wished I would have used a better user-name now because it would have shown up in the URL. This may not work with all ISP's but it has always worked for me with FTP access. Anyone reading this may want to try and see if this works with your ISP basically use yourISPname/~username.

Two questions. I bought a 5 year old domain name via godaddy auctions about 10 months ago and but some content on there and left it.
I take it that the previous 5 years are useless now? Google see's it as a 10 month old domain name? Judging by the way back machine, the last time there was a site on there was back in 2006.

Second question. Not really a aged domain question but kinda related.... If i buy a domain name and lets say i take it out for several years instead of the usual one. Will this give it more power in the search engines??

1. it will not change it
2. not it probably won't but it's not impossible to get out of the sandbox. I'd suggest finding another domain so you don't overdose on the work
3. Yeah it can be penalized domain age isn't an auto denier of penalization.

That's a very vague question and it depends on various factors but I've seen tons of situations in which you build links and a few years later my domain goes wild and ranks high.

Not sure what snapnames is but I would think it does.

I would go for age, pr, and traffic.

I don't think the age of the ISP matters but I have seen sites ranking like that, yes. Not sure I can find the question in your paragraph though but I'm gonna recommend domains over those type of urls.

if you're just renewing a domain then it shouldn't be a problem. If you mean the domain got parked but remained indexed that's fine too.

Google won't see it was a new site but it's better if you don't make a rapid change of niches if it's already niche oriented.

Soon as, almost to the very day that a Domain of mine hit the 1 year mark the traffic increased 10x and maintained at least as much since then. The thing I am unsure about is if it's all due to Domain age because I did nothing out of the ordinary to justify the massive traffic increase. However I've always suspected that the Domain might of had penalties of some sort that may have been lifted. One of which being a Meta refreshed Root Domain, instead of a 301 redirecting to the content of the Site (I've later read that doing so can impose a penalty, so I used a 301 instead). The Domain I am talking about is a Warez Board btw, but other than the Meta refreshed Root at one point, early on I spammed the $hit out of blog chat boxes and had an irate Record Label Rep hounding me down to remove all of their material; and I was unintentionally slow about removing it. So maybe some of that resulted in penalties from complaints (...phuck if I know).
Whatever the case is, Domain age sure hell does wonders - especially if a Site's traffic can increase not once or twice, but 10 times just by Domain Age alone.

As I have a number of pretty aged domains (down to 1996), what is your experience of interlinking (different IPs, anchor text...) aged domains to rank the money site at spot #1 or so?

domain age is never an anti penalty mechanism. If you want to do blasting try to get a site like associated content as your middle man.
