Hey Jesus, I had a few questions about aged domains and would really appreciate it if you answered it.

Do you do anything specific once you purchase the domain to keep it's pr and it's strength?

Do you purchase privacy protection so google can't see the past owners? Read that over at backlinks forum.

Lets say for example, i bought an aged domain about red widgets, will the domain be affected if i put up content about blue widgets.

Will it affect me if the previous backlinks is " Red Widget" pointing back to my site which is now about blue widgets?

The site i am looking at was dropped twice,looking at domaintools, (Registrar History: 1 registrar with 2 drops -taken from domain tools) but still is indexed by google, 1996 with a PR 4, it was crawled at a very healthy rate from 96 all the way up to 2010, does it matter if it was dropped twice?

Privacy protection would be good if you're doing interlinking or blog farms. Not too sure about dropped domains but it would be better if you got one that isn't dropped. Key rule: Age incubates while a domain is inside Google's index.

Are you talking about Domain Age with PR1+ or domain age with a PR0?

Not sure what this is referring to but a hell why not PR is a lot better to have with aged domains.

Does the whois DB matter at all? I recently picked up 2 sites the other day they expired that were both just shy of 3 years old and if I check the whois it shows as a fresh domain. I have been told it has to be a transfer for the domain age to stay intact and from my experience on purchasing other domains that were done by transfer this seems to be true. Does google look at this or is it more to do with when it was indexed than when it was registered? Either way I am not at a loss as the amount and quality of the backlinks to the sites are still good.

If google never knew about the domain - there was never a link to it, and google never crawled it at one point - it's safe to assume that google will not check the registry and give you the same benefits. Domain age starts when google finds out about a domain.

how do you get your aged domains? i tryed goggle auctions but things get really expensive there

you are blasting with sb and xrumer at domain a. Domain a is redirected to domain b. Will domainb penalized?

Probably not, but this is irrelevant to the thread topic.

I do have a question for the OP though that is scaring the droppings out of me:

I want to switch the primary domain URL of a website from a 10 year aged domain to a SLIGHTLY better sounding domain URL. It'll be the same owner and I can do a 301-redirect or whatever I need to do..... BUT, is there any way I can do this without losing the trust status that the aged domain enjoyed?

The only difference is the old aged domain was the term "mt" and the new one has "mtn" instead and makes a better sounding domain.

Is there ANY way to keep the trust rankings and/or age status while still switching to a new primary domain URL?

Redirecting an aged domain to a new one will send over nothing but PR and a bit of trust like you would get from a link from a trusted website such as wikipedia. It won't make the new domain trusted or aged.

Jesus, I just did a 301 re-direct from my old site to the new one. I've read mixed things on whether or not the age of the old domain is transferred to the new one. What are your thoughts on that? Sorry if that's a stupid question. I'm a newbie.

Domain age is not transferred through a redirect.

When i check the archives they were only being used as redirect domains to another website. do these domains still count as aged domains so i can still get the trustrank?

most of these redirects were 302 redirects (idk if that matters...)

Hey jesus do you know of any good service or memberships to snag up good old domains I want with my keyword in them? I don't know how to do it myself and registercompass seems really shday with all the spam they send to one of my accounts.

Try Domain Samari...its a decent tool.

I'm interested of buying an aged domain. It shows that is has n/a page rank and 8 year old.
Its indexed by google, and the page in google shows the godaddy auction page.
So my question is that it is still an aged domain?

I've got a domain originally registered in 2004, and had content relevant to my niche (exactly relevant). It expired in 2005 ... it was purchased again in 2008 and parked for a year at SEDO, during which time it did not have the keyword on the homepage. It expired April 2009.

I bought it a few weeks ago, registered straight. I put up 15 pages of good content, did a 15k scrapebox blast and then set it up drip-feed 500 profile links per day (no pinging). Yahoo has me at 335 links now. It's ranking pretty well, in the teens for all my medium keywords already.

Does this domain have any special benefit seeing it was registered in 2004 and had relevant content on it at the time?

Are aged domains still valuable even if it has no PR? For example, would you prefer an aged domain (lets say 7+ years old) and no PR OR aged (2+ years) and PR (1+) ?

I have a seo and web design client, he already has a domain name that market samurai shows 3 years age. But it is not indexed in google (it has just a picture with client business details) . Domain age is counting as 3 years old? Because if it is not i would prefer to buy a new domain name with the keyword in the domain name, but if this domain age count then i will proceed using this domain name.

They are aged but have little value. You'd probably have better results with an EMD than those.

Yes definetly, if Google knew about it at the time.

PR and age are two different things. You can have an aged domain that ranks better than a PR domain.

Backorders aren't too useful these days considering many registars have autorenew by default.
