There are gift card scammers around the holidays. I was contacted from one that was from BHW.
What they will do is offer you a gift card to AMAZON or EBAY.
They will offer you the gift card at 10% - 30% of what they cost, if the scammer is greedy they will say 50%.
The offer is really good right? They will say that they develop gift card numbers, that they are a hacker and the gift card numbers will work.
Well their thought pattern is 2 steps ahead of you. Sometimes if you get real antsy they will say pay 50% of the percent that they were offering you. 50% to get the gift card numbers and 50% after it works (supposedly).
But they will convince you to use LR as a form of payment because of the no-chargebacks policy and if they are desperate they will get a PP account.
Once you give them the money, they will sign off and give you nothing.
It's almost like a test of greed. Remember, if the offer is too good to be true, It usually is.
I kept logs. He appeared to me on August of 2009 looking for a design. He paid me and I designed for him, but we never finished. It was about $65 I believe. He left and didn't return till December of 2009.
He then told me about the money for the design and told me to keep it because he was gone for so long because he was on a "world tour"...supposedly he had a band.
Him telling me to keep the money was probably an "evening out" of his karma. Supposedly if you do bad deeds your good karma will sink. So you need to get above the surface by doing good deeds to get away from your "bad deeds" backfiring on you.
As funny as it sounds, he lets time elapse before he responds back to you to make it seem like he's not in a rush. To make you believe that his methods are legit.
I know how karma works. I filed a dispute. I'm not worried much. It was only $35.00 and it was a test of greed for me. I failed...but I won't ever again.
