I have been having problems with my internet connection dropping when I get to around 16,000 (differs but usually around there) comments/bloganalyser/whatever.
I have DNS, ping (can ping google.com ok) and other ports continue working OK. Other PCs connected to the same router continue having internet without problems.
I have done many, many tests but nothing has worked so far, only a pc restart.
But then 16,000 comments later the same thing. Annoying as I can't leave it running overnight or when at work and have to mollycoddle it. I want to be able to load up a huge list of 100k+ and leave it churning away, surely that isn't too much to ask??
Info: Running Scrapebox on a Windows 7 Professional computer
Tests done when internet drops:
basic ipconfig/flushdns/arp-d/etc
other pc on network using same router has no problem
reset network adapter
updated network adapter drivers (already have latest)
changed ip manually, spoofed MAC (incase
router had blocked my pc, not likely if even possible and it hadn't blocked it)
Conclusion: not the router causing the problem.
checked event viewer, nothing stood out (to me at least).
ran winsockfix incase the tcp stack was corrupted
ran lots and lots of malware/spyware/anti virus scans (only have 1 antivirus and firewall installed) - they found nothing
disabled firewall - nothing
reset IE to default settings, ran with add-ons disabled, increased temp file to 1024mb
In desperation, I manually restarted all services 1 at a time and then checked internet after every service restart to see if I could source the problem - nothing
running out of ideas and still suspecting malware I took the painful step of wiping and re-installing windows - same thing happened, connection dropped.arrrgghh!
Added SynAttackProtect = 0 entry to registry, still doing the same.
Installed Windows Network Monitor and currports to look for clues about the TCP ports.
Got a message from scrapebox about detecting a debugging software. Clicked OK. Why is that there? To stop people cracking the software? Does it also alter the behaviour of scrapebox so any network monitoring result is skewed and thus not being able to find what is causing the problem?
Anyway, I then figured it may be tcp port exhaustion, as in no more available tcp ports to make a connection.
The default dynamic port range was 50,000-65,535 (15,500 ports). Hmmm, that number seems familiar. Oh yeah...that is about when my internet goes down, after 15,500 scrapebox connections!
Changed the dynamic port range form 5000-65,535 (60,000 ports).
So did it make a difference? Yes, it did, scrapebox now crashed my internet after around 60,000 posts.
Therefore it definitely seems that the problem is related to the ports and the way scrapebox manages the tcp port connections.
Is anyone else experiencing the same problem with scrapebox hanging the internet connection?
If so, what OS are you running and what tests have you done.
Hopefully someone here will have the solution as I am at my wit's end!
