Link building for brand new sites

great stuff guys..

let me just say i didnt get sand boxed im just saying when i started linking about 10 per day my rankings doped so i started to do a slow approach with a few per day.. focusing on long tailed keywords this process seamed to be ok..

true you could be right maybe it was just a google dance..

i have so many sites... do you of you have a large number of sites? if so how do you keep up with the constant need for back linking?

well i think you should create some web 2.0 properties linked to your website and start link building for those web 2.0 properties. In this way your main website will be safe from getting sandboxed.

I don't know where those guys reccomending 500 or 1000s of links per month are comming from? Maybe you are talking about super competetive phrases or something. Because I was able to rank for competition in quotes 300.000-1.000.000 in top 5 with a TOTAL of 20-50 links. Like get 10-15 in the first month and then 2 or 5 each month... It really amazes me reading those advice of 1000s of link a month... Of course my links I am talking about are usually link trades so somehow quality sites and not just 20-50 of profile links or random spam blog comments. Maybe there is the differet approach.. In my experience 2-3 a DAY is quit decent, actually very very decent linking. I never did that much.

overcome 1m with only 20 links, very impressive. can i ask u some question ohyeahbabe? where can i buy these quality link? and do u have any criteria to define high quality link? thanks

yes i would be interested to know what type and where you are getting your links.. not that im saying its not possible because have deffiatly ranked to 5 for keywords with just a few links..

like you said, it depends on the competition. if you are competing for a keyword and none of the top 10 google results have the keyword in the title, h1 tags, description, or have a high keyword density, than 50 links may be enough as long as your on-page seo is intact. but when youre competing for a keyword where all of the top 10 sites have optimized on-page seo for that keyword, thousands of backlinks pointing to that page, and hundreds of thousands of backlinks pointing to their site, 50 links isn't going to cut it. for those, i typically add 1000-3000 backlinks per day.

how the heck do add 1000-3000 links per day? surly this would get you sand boxed straight up?

20-50 links for 300.000-1.000.000

So for 1million more like 50 than 20

I don't buy links, I do link trades. I find people on forums or email them directly.

1 more thing - if the site is wordpress blog and link is sitewide it gives your more links (I mean links from each page etc). but in my 20-50 number I count such link as 1 since its a link from one blog.

for a fresh site i do social bookmarking, then 2-3 links a day and then i start increasing to 10 /day , i do web 2.0, blogs, forums, after a while i usually get some sort of crazy pack from this forum and thats it, i can recommend good services i found here for link building, pm me if interested

I think you`re question has lack of information because it really depends on much more then just backlinks.
You shouldn`t think of "how many backlinks should i get"... Its a question of how to conquer my competitors because those are who you`re competing with.

So just think about... Do you have the right domain name ? Is your onpage optimization done accordingly ? What is it that you`re offering to the visitors despite of others ? How many backlinks with the keyword you want to rank for have your competition and where do they come from ... etc etc...

thanks a million ohyeahbabe, i never thought sitewide link so powerful, my last question: should i focus on high pr(>4) sites or topic related sites?

When it comes to linkbuilding for new sites, you have to make sure that you add content as well as build links gradually. I do about 500 links per month and never had a problem with this strategy - but don't get all your links from one source. Mix your sources - social bookmarking, blog commenting, directory and article submission, link wheels etc - to keep your link profile natural in the eyes of Google.

hi all
Well I have this new site...like 2 months old.its full of unique content...links arnd 400+ on evry article of the site..earlier it started ranking for competitive keywords...but now its ranking has reduced rapidly.... :( what do i do....
In mah backlinking campaign i did social bookmarking., PR, articles sub...and built good backlinks high PR, do follow, some no follow.....
then why Google did this...now I have stopped working on the site from last 2 weeks..What do i do knw??
Kindly reply

and one more question
Shall I noindex my post tags???
I noindexed my categories and archives but not tags..

please help thanks

If you manage to get those links then yes. For me its not that easy so I go for +-pr on average.

By the way I am not sure if sitewide links are so powerful or not, I just wanted to explain that my 20-50 links is links from 20-50 sites, but some of those sites are sitewide so actuall number of links seen in yahoo site explorer may be way bigger.
Not sure how much does it help, since most of the times only home page of a blog has pagerank and the rest of the pages and posts from sitewide is just low value pr0 links

Do not blast the site with a lot of links. The quality of links is more important than the quantity.

I will suggest you regiter the site with few social media and blast with 1000 quality links per week. It depends on what you're tyring to achieve with your website

The left hand not talking to the right hand again??

'Don't blast the site with lots of links...

...blast with 1000 quality links per week.'

WHAT!? :D

I recommend adding not more than 5 links a week. Links should be good quality with different descriptions and anchor text formats.

Sites like Squidoo are great tools for promotion! Backlinks that are naturally acquired and have relevance to site just weigh better with Google.

Google-luck to ya!

:p

You really have only had a negative impact on link-building to a new site? What types of links are you sending to it right away?

I have launched over 400 sites from very small info sites to 10K page e-commerce sites and I ALWAYS build links to them right away. It is pretty rare that I get a site sandboxed (what effects the sandbox has and if it really exists the way most people explain it is a whole other discussion).

What I do will depend on how competitive the niche is (obviously) but for the longer tail keyword, not obscure keywords, I expect to be in the top five results of Google within 2 - 10 weeks. There is no way I would wait six months to start building links. There is no reason. Competitive keywords can take 2 - 10 months of link-building so you may as well get started.

The entire process is way too long to put in this post as the mind map has over 100 branches, but here is a portion of what I do for medium to lower competition keywords (generally anywhere from 500 - 50,000 phrase match searches per month):

- of coarse onpage optimization of the money site is the first thing. Make sure all of this is taken care of before moving on.
- I set up three to four tiers
- Tier one: Feeder/pumper sites - I will almost always buy an aged domain for these. I have several HTML templates that we have built from sctatch (you can get these done on odesk for like $15, they are cheap). After picking one we edit it just a bit so it is not the same as any others we have put up and put 4-10 pages of unique content on it about the specific niche. I also put a WP blog on a subpage and continually add content to get more pages indexed while sending internal links with good anchor text to the main HTML pages of the site. Use one centralized back end to manage your WP content when you get to a point to where you have several of these, lots of options out there. This pumper can also be used to promote several other sites. That is the beauty of building out a network like this. Within random pages of the site link to your money site with good anchor text but also link to other authority sites within the same niche. Could be a wiki page, aboutus page, .edu page etc. Do not link to your money site on every page, we usually have less than 5% of the links on these sites going to any given url. Again, use this to promote other sites you own or have an interest in. I will do anywhere between 1 and 10 of these kinds of sites depending on need (check the backlink quality and quantity of your competition before beginning). There is a lot more in this step, but that gives you the general idea.
- Tier two: web 2.0 props - Squidoo, hubpages, multiply, ect... there are a ton of good ones. When creating a new account I will generally post for 4 - 5 days without having any links in the most important ones (hubpages and others). This usually gives me a higher authority score on the sites and gets me above the do follow hard deck quicker. I will sometimes send these links directly to my money site for some variety but most of the time they will go to the tier one pumpers. The number of these created will depend on the niche. Make sure and fill out all the info possible in the profile. There are a lot of cheap software packages to manage these sites from one back end.
- Tier three - articles, good forum profiles, guest blog posts and similar links- These are pretty self explanatory and very very easy links to get. Just make sure whatever software you are using that it will kick out a list of urls so you can index them. I will also randomly send about 10 - 20% of the links from this tier to the money site and tier ones for a natural looking footprint. Just make sure to never have links from the same profile or article going to your money site and other sites. Keep the money site links clean so they can't be tied to any of the other links in this tier. The rest of the 80 - 90% of the links in this tier go to your tier two sites. Lots more here also, but you get the idea.
- Tier Four - Indexers - there are several ways you can do this. Set up your own indexing clusters using back link energizer (I love this software when it is used correctly), use xrumer, scrapebox, rss aggregators and anything else you can think of to index your existing links. You should get to a point to where you can keep above 70% of your total links in Googles index. That is SEVERAL TIMES higher than what I used to get before setting up this network. Run all the urls that you have your links on through scrapebox to see which ones are already in the index. The ones that aren't, add them to the indexing cluster through BLE, blast comments to them via scrapebox and xrumer (although be careful about sending too many xrumer links to web 2.0 sites, I have had some banned) and compile an rss feed with something like RSS Bomber. Check the same links in scrapebox after this process and take out the ones that were indexed. Resubmit the ones that weren't. You will be continually adding new links to index, this will be a never ending process if you keep putting up more sites.

I know I left out a lot of info, but I hope you get the basic idea of some of the things I do.

This might seem like a lot of work, but after you have the system in place and the network set up, it really runs quite efficiently. You will have plenty of linking power and should be able to get your sites ranked very quickly.

Don't hold back altogether, then you're just wasting time. I usually just start off with a good 30 quality links per day in the first two weeks then ramp it up after that to 50 or even 100 per day. In my opinion, as long as your links have quality content along with them you're fine. The search engines just don't want spammy and generic links thrown around for the obvious purpose of ranking.

this is what i do:
1 to 2 months=2 links per day
after 2 months=5 links per day
after 3 months=10 links
after 4=15
after 5=20
it has worked perfectly for me!My site just needs to get a little more trust now and that would mean my revenues will be doubled.
