is there a specific technique for buying facebook ads.

I start out bidding $.02 above the highest suggested bid and then when clicks start coming in I usually see that my cpc is usually less than my bid.

makes sense but...

when i try to lower my bid price just a little bit, i loss "the sweet spot", clicks/impressions stop coming in, which leads me to believe that I'm being outbid...right?!

but when i raise my bids back to my original bid price, i never get the same amount of traffic as my initial bid.

so now, when i create new fb campaigns, i don't like messing with the bids at all as it seems to disrupt the flow.

Sounds crazy...i know, is there any method/strategy to bidding on fb ads?

thanks

I don't think there is ne strategy there... Going with their suggested bids gives an optimum performance

.02 seems a bit low.

You need to use the "Likes & Interests" to target your audience more.

@Venture - He is not bidding .02, he is bidding that much above the suggested amount. 1.02 instead of 1.0... correct OP?

I tend to set my fee based on my budget and the time period. If it is a short-term promotion, I pay more per click. If over a long period of time, I reduce the fee.

There have also been some ads that i've created that I did not want anyone to click. The image would have the information needed and that alone would fulfill my purpose.

correct.

thanks for your advice.

my main concern is after i optimize and have a campaign that's making money, how can i keep the traffic coming?

it seems like everytime i adjust it, it slows down considerably

I found the same thing. In fact one of my ads stopped impressioning all together. I created a new one just like it and like magic it started to get impressions.

Go figure

I noticed that too, I will just relist a new ad and then it boom impressions start hitting new ad, just pause the other. Weird but I noticed FB has several weird issues like that.
