Well, some of us already have age 65 as official retirement, so we can't really see why you are destroying your cities because of moving from 60 - 62 ???

WHY?

Because, 60 is a social benefits.
Our ancestors fight for this benefits. Why now we would have to work always more ? Why its always salaried employees who have to do efforts ?
Why a minority of France (and of this world) earn 75% of the money while 2 millions french die of starvation ?
We don't wanna work all our life for 1200€ (1670$) to grow fat the capital.

it's us population who has to pay off bank's debts. Is it normal ?

Maybe because in your countries some people are earning 150,000 x the medium wage and maybe they can afford paying enough tax to finance these 2 years of retirement ?

France is slowly becoming a third world nation.
Lol.. Please compare misery in USA and misery in france and you'll see the difference.

In USA, you don't defend your rights. Your boss is actually paying you 5 or maybe 10% of the profit he makes from you. That's ok in your country, but not in france (well it's ok but you can't fu*k your employee as easy as in the us).

I love France and the French people, but it would be more shocking to see a thread that said 'France NOT on strike'

End of the world, Coming to a life near you.

It's almost Christmas, isn't about time that the French train operators go on strike so no-one can get anywhere?

You know it would be funny tomorrow the French train operators do go on strike just because one of them read your statement here and told his friends.

France has too much unions, too many social programs.

It's about time someone take action on this if France wants to be competitive in the ************ economy.

Sava?

At least they dont have TV licence and I think also no car tax unlike blood sucking UK and the food when I was coach driver there the best I ever tasted and I never forget that apple pie and two french girls I met.

However the ********ing country is too BIG

I got micro sleeps driving there and nearly crashed the coach thats why I gave up after boss sold biz for somthing less dangerous!

Because the morons are depending on the government for retirement because they're too stupid to create their own retirement fund. (we've got the same problem in the US). Retirement age shouldn't even exist because social security (or whatever they call it there) should have never been created.

The US should be having massive protesting to, but not because of retirement age. We should be protesting because we're gradually turning into the 21st century version of the USSR.

I could go on, but politics isn't allowed here so I'll stop.

We have a movement called the "Tea Party" that rants over government waste, screaming we should "take the country back" but has no plan to implement anything. Taking the country back seems to be about voting out incumbents and cutting services, but there is little talk about touching the sources of the real expenditures: entitlements, particularly social security and Medicare. If you're a politician suggesting the need to touch Medicare, you're killing granny, etc., and she's gonna show up pushing her walker at the polls to vote you out (if she hasn't already hit you with a cane at the Tea Party meeting).

Waste in the military budget is another target for cuts, but you can't suggest that out of fear of being tagged a traitor, pinko, etc.

Sarkozy has actually acted on the need to cut back on entitlements — in their case the artificially low retirement age — and riots are the result. Few US politicians, even the raving righties, have the courage to suggest we should anything of the kind here. It's politically safer to target food stamp recipients, unemployment and illegal immigrants, rather than focus on where most of the money goes.

As for my own politics, I am progressive, but see the need to limit certain perks and goodies before we go completely broke. I am fully supportive of the president's health care reform, realizing that the "system" is totally lopsided. A large percentage of the money goes toward paying for end of life medical benefits for seniors. The money needs to be more evenly distributed toward children and younger workers who can't buy coverage.

Unfortunatelly in all countries the waste is not social programs like medicare or medicade or social security eventhough there is wast there too. It's political corruption. It's presidents and Prime Ministers sepending millions of dollars on how they look. It's having 5 politicians doing the same job when one could. It's big corps. brining politicians to cut taxes for for them etc.... JMO

Actually I think Sarkozy has a lot of balls in most of his policies, that very few politicians have. Most countries retirement age is 65 and going up. The main problem is government spending.

What I'd like to know is how do we get rid of all these ever increasing incompetent, greedy, corrupt politicians for good.

Is it their nature or because what happened on 1789 has been motivating them to object anything government decide.

Im sure someone who is actually french will be able to tell you the proper age but i think it is either 8 or 12 that you actually spend a good few lessons being taught your rights as a child!

And then they go into your rights as an adult later on!
