Well, I can't do "ipconfig /renew" it'll say unable to contact DHCP or w/e

try your router on a different PC, as was suggested before.

As was told before. There are three computers using it, it's only mine doing it.
Your solution, go step by step:
1) Run Start > Run > CMD > Then flush your dns records by using this command - IPCONFIG/FLUSHDNS (ignore the message you get)
2) Now go to Start > Run > CMD > type netsh winsock reset > Press enter and restart as prompted.
Try to connect. If it doesn't work go to NETWORK CONNECTIONS and now try to click the "repair button".
IF it doesn't work - Go to CP > Administration > Services (or just type "services in the start menu if it's windows 7). Lookup "DNS Client" and make sure it's enabled.
This should fix your problem.
9/10 times its #2 that fixes your problem.
Let me know if it workd for ya.

ok the command seems posted just before me.
are you getting limited or no connectivity or no connection at all. you might want to check the networking wires. they might be loosing too much data on the way. did you try replacing them.
cuz they are the one that will bring the assigned ip to your pc from the router(DHCP server).

Thanks for the suggestion, but I tried every thing above with no victory.
Still getting "Local Area Connection" Doesn't Have A Valid IP Configuration.

1. Open up the command line utility and enter:
netsh winsock reset catalog (resets winsock entries)
netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (resets TCP/IP stack)
2. Reboot your PC
netsh winsock reset catalog (resets winsock entries)

routers/modems are cheap, even check craigslist if you want
P.S. if you have NORTON anything, trash it..also do a virus/malware scan

Yes thanks for your bright solution.. got car troubles? get a new car.
Also: It's not a router issue.. as far as I can tell from reading, it's a "Windows IP Configuration" issue which I can not find or figure out how to fix.

i speak from experience cuz my netgear router just got Flakey and i pitched it for a linksys. it didn't stop working, just flaked
if resetting your router and configuring it for your broadband doesn't work & other computers work but yours doesn't..appears to be your hardware/software. swap nic card or ???
OR
does the DHCP have enough IP's to hand out, is it setup correctly?

Don't forget scan your pc, it might be a virus, spyware or adware that change your network setting. It was happened to me, then I clean with antivirus, try avg because it's good enough fighting spyware and adware. After I remove the virus, the network still error, then I run winsockfix (search gogle) to repair the configuration.
Winsockfix is for 98 ~ xp, for vista/7 you need to do it manually on command prompt:
netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ip reset reset.log hit

Why don't you just buy a new network adapter?

You are going to spend $100 for a fix when you can buy a better adapter for $50.
You already said the networking forums can't seem to help you, but somehow maybe a marketing forum will???
I'm sure you have spent a lot of time working on this issue and that in itself is costing you money. I would cut my loses and just get a new adapter.

Try using someone elses modem or buy a cheap 1?
