S-e-o for a real estate website...need help!

So I'm doing some S E O work for a real estate office.

My goal is to get on top of G for 3 cities - the competition I have are sites like homes, trulia, and the big companies. From what I notice a lot of little sites seem to still out -rank these types of sites when it comes to small niche cities, so I think we have a chance of getting the 1 or 2 spot.

So I'm going to try and shoot for the key -words... city homes, city homes 4 sale, homes in city, and a few others (open to suggestions)

I have scrape box... now should I just build links for each keyword for each city through commenting, profiles, etc . ?

Like we have certain web pages on the main site [mainsite (slash) homes in city] so i should have that be the link i connect to the key words right, instead of the main site right?

Any body have any suggestions, help, or guidance?

You can outrank trulia and all the big ones with local. I have a website sitting at #1 for "city homes for sale". It took a couple of months but good on-page seo with minimal backlinking did the trick. Also, I have an exact match domain.

I build links to the main page only, unless you are having a problem with your pages being discovered. A local real estate site should be easy to get rankings for. I use a services that is a server platform that creates thousands of optimized pages for each keyword in a geographical area. The platform has a free 60 day trial. It is amazing but it only works for local results. It makes my life easier. Its called TAP. Got to learn how to use it though.

By onsite seo... what do you mean?

We have likes hundreds of sub pages, mainpage/homesincity
mainpage/cityrealestate and each page i would say is "optimized" but it doesn't rank at all.

Facepalm... Here is the best advice I can possibly give you.

A) If your charging a client for SEO services, just give them the money back and applogize and say you have family problems and cannot handle there companies SEO work at this time.

B) If you work for this real estate agency, and happened to take on their SEO work. Or claimed you can handle it. STOP right now, and hire a competent individual or firm that can handle things for the company.

I don't mean to come across harsh, but your question is the equivalent of "how do you rebuild a truck engine" when you have no training or experience... Sure you can try, but if you don't torque down everything correctly, you will ruin a perfectly good engine.

The same holds true with SEO. It's part training, part knowledge and part theory. You need to have at least the framework down, and know what

the easiest way to rank at the top is to purchase an exact match domain. throw some backlinks at it and you'll be at the top within a few weeks. Than use the site to redirect traffic to the real estate site that hired you.

Best part is you keep control of the site getting traffic so when the bastards get cheap on you it'll be their loss...

Thanks, we had a company that charged us 2k/month 2 year contract for seo, but they did squat. We are still locked in with them for 6 more months.

The only thing we ranked for was our name. I do work for the company and do social media a different portion of the company. Recently I was given the task to start working on doing this "stuff", since they can't. I do get the jist, meaning I can do everything there is to do..but was just hoping for a maybe a plan I can follow. So far, with the replies I've gotten, I think it's a good start.

I get what you mean by "on-page seo", but previously thought you were referring to some black hat technique or something.

Learn SEO dude, I'll help you out.

It's not called S-E-O or S E O, formatting it like that shows that you don't know what you're doing, it's SEO. And on the topic of format, they are called keywords, not "key -words".. Your formatting doesn't make any sense (I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just trying to save you the embarrassment of looking newbish). Asking about onsite SEO for something you're trying rank locally is also not going to help you out any, especially around here. Go to SEObook.com and read some of Aaron Wall's posts, the dude knows his stuff.

Learn the basics, and go from there. Don't charge anyone anything until you have the basics covered. Build a bunch of backlinks that use clean anchor text back to the page of the matching title. If you optimize your page titles, descriptions, and H1 tags, you should be able to get the pages ranking with very little linking effort.

I apologize for the stupid format, it wasn't because I'm not familiar with it, it's because when I post a new topic on BHW, I get a message saying i triggered a certain spam keyword and I need to change it. So since it doesn't tell me what I need to change, I have to kind pick at the words I wrote until it allows me to post.

When I asked the question "What do you mean by on-page seo?" It was because I'm under the "BH SEO" category... since I'm relatively new to BH, I thought he meant some kind of black hat technique.

Again, I do social media marketing, blogging, and other stuff... but this is a new project I need to work on for the company. I understand it's nothing too difficult, but I'm wondering, should I create individual websites for each city with keyword rich domains and do something like a 301 redirect or should I just focus on the current company website and focus on optimizing that.
