IM career over

So it looks like I'm done with IM for the next couple of years, which sort of saddens me because I've been doing it for the past 4 years and I really enjoy it.

I've entered college and my grades have been slipping because of the time that I spend on marketing. I'm still reading BHW and learning new things, but I haven't been able to put anything to the test lately.

I have so many great ideas to make a lot of cash quickly, but no time for it. I'm also afraid that if I get someone to do it for part of the profit, that they'll just take it and run and I'll just waste my time.

What are your thoughts about this little rant?

I think you should do what makes you happy, going to college is the smart thing to do, keep reading the forums maybe one day sooner than later you will have time to do what you need to do.

As for trusting others it can be a hard thing to do, people have egos that usually get in the way of projects because they think they put in more work then others or there is lack of trust in the group etc.. most big successful ventures involve a team of individuals working on a goal not just one person, you just got to put yourself out there & take the chance until you find the right pieces for your puzzle.. if you don't try then you will always wonder

I was in the same situation and still tend to be, sometimes. Back when I was in college, I wanted to work online (do something different) but peers & parents wanted me to get grades and a job. I've no problem with the grades, but a job was something that never really worked for me.

I actually faced physical hostility for my stubbornness to make my career online, but eventually, after 6-7 long years, I'm finally building this bit by bit. I've still got to prove myself by being consistent... which is what "the world" expects in terms of respecting what you do.

Hey, I'm sure you can spare a couple of hours per week for IM. let's say just 1 hour per day or 3 hours in the weekend. It's not like you're going to do research papers every single day...
Why do we go to school anyway? isn't it to land a good job, earn a decent living in the future? So the bottom line is FINANCIAL STABILITY!
It's a bonus if you can get valuable things in school, most importantly connections, friends, and some technical skills (that will become obsolete after graduation); but in the end, you'll still be measured by the absolute amount of cash you get per month, just like you are being judged and measured by your grades today.

you need to balance college and IM somehow.Just because you are doing Im does not mean the college grades have to slip.sit down,rack your brain to get a plan out and then stick to it.that is the best way.

simple hire freelancers and divide your IM job in small chunks and outsource to them several freelancers.. this way no one can get the idea behind what you are doing or how you are making money and you ll also get your job done perfectly and pretty cheap.

Stick with school at all costs!

You have a chance to make money by partnering/outsourcing work, whereas just dropping IM altogether guarantees no additional money made, so I would consider that. You can always do IM later in life, but it is much more difficult to get through college later. I'd say your priorities should be as follows:

1. School
2. Outsourcing (if you have the time to monitor/train your workers)
3. JV
4. School + IM yourself (but it sounds like this isn't really a good option based on your OP)

Believe me when I say that school can really pay off. I did 7 years of college, have a bachelors, masters and doctorate and it has paid off big time, and now I do both IM (part time) and my "day" job (which I hope to ditch in a few years to do IM full-time).

Don't despair. Take the difficult road now and you'll reap the benefits later. Stick with school no matter what!

How would you be wasting YOUR time if you have others doing the work?
Fear of loss & greed can make it so you don't make anything.
By taking the risks you'll develope the most important tool in business, a GUT!
All we can do as business owners is make the best decisions we can, with the info we have at the time.

I strongly suggest you get ONE project off the ground and find out for sure if your idea not idea(s) is a winner.

Don't run and hide.

Nothing wrong with believing in your own service! By the looks of your rep and iTrader, plenty of others do too.

Everyone can do IM. It is best to have a good fall back alternative (an actual degree). Mine has absolutely nothing to do with the Internet or computers but if IM stops paying as good as it does now I can get a day job in a matter of weeks with a salary at least 6-7k (before tax).

So college was not a waste of time and is actually very recommendable. Eggs and baskets.

Things to do before you quit IM
(a)Be a Billionaire atleast a millionaire
(b)Get a Ferrari or mustang
(c)Get a Condo by beach..Anything but it has to be expensive and worthwhile the money

If you quit before something like this happens...Your 4 years hard work and effort is wasted...

Just learn to balance your time. I was doing about 25 hours of class a week, with about 40 hours of projects and homework, and still managed to fit in 6+ hours a day of IM while in college. And I worked a part time job for 8-10 hours a week just because I had started it long before IM and enjoyed the people I worked with.

I took my laptop to class and worked on IM there, I fit it in during lunch, sometimes during dinner etc.

I guess it's all about what you want to focus on. Don't not focus on school, but it's easily possible to get very good grades and still work basically full time with IM.

I have made good money spending less than an hour of day on IM. If your an internet addict(Im not being a dick, I have an addictive personality myself), moderation isn't possible, so quitting would be your only option to keep your grades up. Do what you feel is best.

The only failure is when you stopped trying. I say, you can hire people to do it but don't give them the knowledge on how much you've been earning and what the business is for.

A college degree can teach proper English. I have my college degree and let

me tell you it's one of the best things you can do in your life. I make "a

fortune" being a boss of people that patrol local streets at night and

protecting families. It's about doing what you love and what means most in

your life. I love internet-marketing, but I think it's kind of unstable. One day

you could be banking a lot, and the next day you could make $0. As with

work, I can go in work 10-hours and have no worries. (Plus City Benefits ^_^)

I think the younger black hatters have it in their heads that Black Hat is a

way to avoid college. It isn't. If you really want to master Black hat, get a

degree to fall back on in case something doesn't go through. Just my two cents.

PS: worth does not equal work.

And trust me I'm a total leader with a college degree. (I lead 15 different people.)
