Maybe this is an attempt by ebay to guilt black hatters in to changing our ways. According to them because of us they had to ruin 100's maybe 1000's of hardworking people's businesses. They are so clever!

Maybe you could sell egay some sort of super undetectable code to catch cookie stuffers for like $1000.
That would teach them!
heres my take on the situation. In the Past 2 months, there have been a huge boom in cookie stuffing, I mean it went from barely finding anything on the subject , to full blown blog sites ect... Ebay had to know that there where massive amounts of people cookie stuffing. I sure there affiliate pay our went sky high recently....
Now most people who stuff, tried to stay under the radar. and ebay doesnt have the time to go and check every accounts traffic. So Lots people make 50 - 100 daily stuffing under the radar for the past few months.
Ebay needed to devise a way to catch all these under the radar stuffers. and they took examples of pure white hat site stats. Stats we wouldnt think of like, after a user clicks an affiliate link, how many times they revisit ebay ect.. and guess what bingo, the habits of someone who knowingly clicked an ebay ad link, are going to be different to the habits, of someone whos computer got stuffed and maybe doesnt even use ebay. Think of it say you stuffed 10k computers with your cookie, and maybe not even half even log onto ebay, thats alot different actions than if you got 10k real ebay users clicking on your affiliate link bringing them to a targeted item.....

I guarantee one of the behavior metrics they are talking about is something as simple as tracking whether the individual who "clicks" an EPN link moves around to more than the initial page on eBay that they were sent to. Though many real users will look at that first page and then leave, it is statistically unlikely that ALL users sent from a specific affiliate would behave that way.

I think we might be mistakenly assuming that ebay did this in response to us black hatters. If that was the case that was a really stupid way to try and get us and I think we all can name tons of reasons why (but we know better not to in a public forum).
I think this was some metrics nerd misguided attempt to make epn "more efficient". And he/she confused the poor higher ups who actually have some sort of business sense but little internet savvy with talks of "engaged traffic" so they OK'ed the move.
Hopefully there is such a backlash that they don't go through with the bans or don't ban again for a long time. Either way a large backlash benefits us.
