Hey i was wondering what the best site is to register a domain with, based on features and pricing. For example, I usually use namecheap but I just realized for the extension I want they charge too much. But they do give you that whoisGuard. I was looking at 1&1 but in there it said you can only have 5 subdomains? Can someone explain that to me, like if i transfer that to my webhosting and my webhosting allows unlimited subdomains, how many do I have?

Your question appears to be about hosting and not domain registrar. if you want to get cheap domain you can get it at yahoo hxxp://order.sbs.yahoo.com/ds/DomainSearchResults?d=&m=dom&.src=sbs&.p=YD1&.promo=BESTDEAL

i like moniker, but i think there are cheaper places out there

my question is not about hosting. I have webhosting. My question is about domain registration. and yahoo sucks they charge too much. I previously stated that I use namecheap for my domains. In a separate question, I am asking people that know, to what i think is in relevance to DNS servers, why they say 5 subdomains, but if I transfer the domain's dns servers to my hosting will that remove that limit?

I am not sure what you mean by 1and1 only allowing 5 sub domains. I believe you can have up to 1200 for each domain. I think you have mistaken it with their offer that you get 5 domains when you sign up for one of their hosting packages.

rodney just go to the domain overview and scroll down and it says "Domain features" with a bunch of green checkmarks. then subdomains=5

I have six domains through 1and1 with the business package and I can promise you it is not limited to 5 subdomains. Each domain under the business package is limited to 200 subdomains. I don't know what package you are looking at but maybe if you look a little further you will see what I am talking about.

Or you can see for yourself.

Yeah, I like name.com too. Free privacy with every purchase. Their prices aren't half bad either, considering the free privacy.

I'm a big fans of GoDaddy.
if you use coupon OYH3, you will get .com for $6.99

Moreover, if you register 5 domains at once, you will get a free upgrade of Free Privacy too.

went with name. thanks! not the cheapest but seemed reliable. 1/2 the price of namecheap, ironically.

I use Name.com too i think they are really good at pricing and Who Is Guard and everything, So Ou shold Use too!

so name has a FREE anon-whois and is only 5 bucks on FIRST YEAR. How about the rest of the years?

Not sure about their service but that is usually where it can get expensive.

depends on what you want to do with the domain ...

for resale and whitehat, GoDaddy ... otherwise I prefer Namecheap

Hmm.. never heard of name.com .... although, ironically, it's not loading for me at all. :D (getting connection timed out errors)

I usually go with namecheap. I used to use Godaddy, until I read about the horror stories that Internet Marketer's would have with them. (holding the domain hostage for a "ransom fee" because of "spam complaints". F that.) Pretty much ensured I'll never use Godaddy again.
