I have been using Name.com for a year now and they have one of the best prices around. I had registered a new domain for $5.99 and the renewal costed me $7.99 for a .com which is ok i suppose.
I used to work at enom there arnt that bad I would use one of their resellers though for a better deal. couple of them have already been listed up here.
i have only used godaddy (an resellers) and 1and1. I was very disappointed with 1and1, I will start using name.com for the free privacy and cheap first year
I like namecheap the best.
Of course the prices are very good, (especially with the coupons you can easily google and find), and also when you first register the domain, the DNS takes affect within like 5 minutes, which is always wesome
optim, are you sure its $1.99? when i used the link you gave what is shown is $9.95/year
nam*e.com is really cheap, its just a bummer that the other registrars offer .info at less than $3 but name couldnt? does anyone of you have a coupon code for nam*e.com?
I think all of the register domainer businesses have a lot of info clobbered up in the webpage, with different options and upselling all over the place. It's inevitable given the amount of information they need to show, however I went with namecheap because they have a cleaner, calmer look. In terms of functionalities and service, I haven't tried godaddy, I don't know how good or how bad they are. I'm very happy with namecheap though, no problems. By reading this post, you see how my decision was purely visual.
Namecheap also has coupons every month. Search for Namecheap September 2009 coupon or something like that. We're on the beginning of the month, sites or posts showing the coupons might not be properly indexed and you may have a hard time finding it, but they do exist. I remember reading somewhere there was even a coupon for re-registering your current domains.
name [dot] com is good. I have quite a few domains with them and am very satisfied. They do however sell domains for below ICAAN costs so you must be cautious as they MAY raise prices in the future. Apparently, they make money every time someone signs up for Google Apps so there is speculation that is what is picking up the tab for the below cost domains.
