Scrapebox on Competitor's Site - Test or Study

Interesting challenge and interesting observation on your part..

Yes very interesting. I am actually going to try this on another site that I have in the number 4 - 5 position.

I think I will blast the hell out of it, then wait and see what happens. As long as it goes away and then comes back ranking even higher, I will blast it again, and see what happens.

This is a very good idea. I will post here when I find out the results, though it will be one to two months down the road.

This is the best post of the year imho.

I would like to fraud click your thanks button if the forum allows.

You don't think straight, do you? What do you expect if you get links you get better ranking, the stupidity is enormous

Did you think that he would be gone for ever?

I don't think that is stupid. Nothing is certain until you try.

Besides, I don't he picked a keyword that matters a lot to experiment. Finally, if that works for competitor, it's super easy to do it to his own site.

Now you have to test if the rankings will last. Google is extremely volatile lately.

@ADHD-Dude either you can't read or you just aren't very smart same with anna. He said it was a experiment!!!

The reason for the experiment was all of the recent threads about Google penalizing you for spammy links.

So please try and keep up. This was a great post - just too bad it went over your head.

In my opinion you got what you deserved.

Focus on positive work on your own site and not negatively effecting someone else livelihood.

That being said, you try that crap on someones site who really knows what they are doing and you will find not only your site de-indexed, but them performing a reverse look-up on your domain/IP and de-indexing all your shit.

I agree with people here : One of the best post this year.

I had already begin the same kind of experiment with a domain of mine. Gonna keep adding backlink and spam it, and report back here. Thanks and +Rep for you.

Yes. Your competitor's site disappeared because of the Google's dance. Then it came back with a vengeance (now it's number 1). That is what happens when more links are added to a site.

I have seen that with my sites but in a much more smaller scale.

I think that's very valuable information. It's always been my conviction that you cannot hurt a competitors site... just maybe kick them into the google dance, like it appears you did... but then come back stronger.

Just had that happen to a client site of mine. He got a LOT of links in a short period of time... he was pulled out of the rankings for 36 hours (lot less than your 17 days) and advanced to the 2nd page from the 6th page.

I've always wanted to put up a test site and have everyone blast it... having it get 10's of thousands of backlinks in a 48 hour period, to see what that would do to it.

Great post... thanks for reporting the outcome!

Interesting experiment and I guess it was best tried out on your competitor first. That said I agree with a lot of the others: concentrate on your site!

Great job man. I was hoping to someone would create a thread like this. About a week ago I had a site fall off the face of the earth from doing a lot of commenting. Can't wait to see what position it's at if and when it comes back.

bad ass, nice experiment! what kind of blog posts were you using? Wordpress? Movable?

I like that ideia, how about we gather a few of us with scrapebox, round up a sample site, pick a few keywords (one for each participant) and agree on a schedule to blast the shoes out of it? Just for experiments sake?

Of course the address and specifics could not be posted in the forum, but these details we could exchange via private messaging.

Good idea?

I know that it is an experiment but you don't try something that can help your competitor on your competitor that is just insane

First of all, to all of the people that say focus on your own site, blah blah blah, this was an experiment and I figure if things went wrong and the site disapears then it won't hurt me and second of all, the links are PR 0 to 1 and really are not going to be difficult to beat.

Secondly, if everyone wants to blast a site with backlinks I have a domain that we could throw some information on, build a little site and see what happens. The domain has makemoneyonline in it so it is a very difficult keyword. That is just an idea we don't need flaming or whatever, and I am not trying to use anyone. It is purely for a test. We could even sign an agreement or something that we will split any profits made from the site.

Anyways, I figure that this is a good experiment to show that

1. Blog Commenting is not dead. A link is a link and it holds weight.
2. If your site falls of the face of the earth, just keep doing what you are doing. This is not new news, but it is the truth from my experiment.

I am glad that so many people have found this useful. That is what I truley believe that this community is all about.

Hello Everyone,

My competitor had about 115 more backlinks then I did. So I thought to my self that I would test out and see if G would drop them if I was to blast their site with spammy links.

So here is what I did. I scraped what I thought was the total oposite of our niche, found about 500,000 blogs to comment on and went to town. Nothing above a pagerank of 1 got hit. So what I was doing was dropping links to his site on the worst blogs ever.

Please, how did you find these 500,000 blogs to comment on? Could you please explain & give a detailed step by step strategy you used? Thanks in advance
