What did TikTok do to my video after the first hour of it being posted?

Why do the videos I post on TikTok get a high number of views and likes in the first hour, only to then go completely quiet? This has happened with 10 of my videos now. Is it due to the distribution algorithm or user behavior?

Has anyone else experienced this?

Are your videos good quality/entertaining?

This seems like a regular algorithm behaviour - on upload it pushes your video to broad audience, then detects that users aren't engaging that much with your video and slowly your video's reach dies out.

I think your content might not be engaging enough. it fails to keep viewers watching until the end during the initial period, which is why the TikTok algorithm has stopped recommending your video.

TikTok may test a video with an initial audience before expanding distribution, so views can slow if watch time, completion rate or engagement aren't strong enough. Check those metrics across all 10 videos and compare which ones kept viewers watching longest.

TikTok notify profile followers of new post content from follow profiles for engagement and live content on include trend pages for engagement and followers growth.

This can happen if the video isn't engaging enough. In the first few hours, your video is shown to your existing followers, which may generate a decent number of views; however, since the audience base fails to expand, the view count will gradually decline over time.

Both are connected: watch time and skips influence recommendations, alongside likes. I’d compare retention and traffic sources across those ten videos. The first-hour slowdown alone doesn’t tell you why distribution stopped.

i'd check the retention graphs on those 10 videos before assuming tiktok is limiting your reach. getting likes in the first hour is nice, but if people are scrolling away early, that could explain why the views slow down. compare average watch time, completion rate and traffic sources across those videos. if they all follow the same pattern, i'd try changing the first few seconds rather than just posting more.

TikTok first recommends videos to a subset of users; only when the feedback is sufficiently positive does it potentially expand the reach of those recommendations.

I’ve seen this happen too. I think it’s just how TikTok tests content. Sometimes changing the posting time or trying a different style can help keep the views coming in.

That is just the standard TikTok algorithm testing your content. In the first hour it pushes your video to a small test group to check metrics like watch time and completion rate. If that test group swipes away too fast, the algorithm stops pushing it completely and the views freeze

Yeah likes dont mean much to the algo, completion rate and shares matter way more. That first hour is usually just TikTok testing the video on some followers and a small group of other people to see if they keep watching. If most swipe away in the first couple seconds, reach kinda dies off. Still wouldnt delete them tho, I've had dead posts get views weeks later out of nowhere just because the sound started trending or people found it through search.

TikTok often gives new videos an initial burst of exposure, then distribution can slow if watch time, completion rate, or shares aren't strong enough. I'd compare retention graphs across those 10 videos to see where viewers drop off.

My content is about animal entertainment,do I need to change it?

My content is compiled from other popular channels. I think it’s quite good and I’ve also included music that is currently trending.

The metrics for almost all 10 videos are the same. I have come up with an explanation for this.

I think that might be your problem right there. Originality 0/100. You should be creating your own content, and not scraping and stealing the content from others. You'll eventually get shadow banned, as algorithms can learn to detect you, you can't learn to detect their changes, apart from non existent progress.

These sites are marketed and made for original content creators. Go learn how to break dance, or do some viral software tutorials, or I dunno, whatever you are good at. You shouldn't be good at having no creativity and having to steal other peoples content, when you really don't have to. (and will get penalized for it)

This might be blackhatworld. But you want to prioritize your earning potential, over just trying to be black hat and break the rules (hoping!) you might earn in the future. (you can break the rules in terms of your work quality habits, and be as blackhat as you want)

Can't you take what you learned and apply better home made original high quality content?

maybe tiktok boosts ur videos initially but once that initial audience sees the video, its reach starts to decrease.if this trend is consistent across ten videos i would focus on the number of views nd watch time rather than just likes.do u see a revival of view countts a day or two later for any videos?
