Best way to get listed in DMOZ?

What is the best way to get listed in DMOZ? Anyone here an editor? If they are, can they help out?

1. You need to submit your site to the 100 % correct section. If you have a sports-blog you need to submit it to "personal weblogs" not to a sports-subcategory.

2. Look at the sites of your competitors or similar sites of your niche that are already listed in DMOZ.

• Are they similar to your site or does your site lack quality, content, etc.?
• Are they listed in the category you wanted to submit your site

3. Read their rules

Thanks for your input. I've tried doing exactly what you stated above. I was wondering if anyone on here is an editor that can help speed it up? Not sure if editors can manually enter listings?

Don't waste your time worrying about DMOZ. Just submit it and move on. There are plenty of high ranking sites that you can post to more easily.

The traffic from there is pretty crappy as well. The only real benefit is to sell your site to noobs who have no idea about SEO. Hey look, I have my site on DMOZ, I'm special. Other than that, I'd move on with my life. It's not worth its own thread.

And it will take a while for DMOZ to review / accept / deny your site. from a couple weeks to a couple months, i'd say.

Try to inject your links in big authority niche-related wiki sites. =) I get 100% Autopilot traffic from a niche-related wiki site (in 2500 alexa) sending me nice xx visitors daily resulting in a CB sale every few days.

ive heard you need to keep resubmitting - just dont overdo it e.g. no more than once a month

i've submitted the same site, which is a high quality niche site in the beauty market, 3 different times over the course of 6 months. No response at all.

Pay for that on some of freelancer sites (for example freelancer.com). It is usually $200-300 and it is so hard to get into dmoz because all moderators selling links.

If you do not believe me - lets say that i got lifetime yahoo directory listing for just $50. So it is the case with dmoz too - just more expensive.

Getting a listing through dmoz is more by luck than anything else...I was an editor of a semi popular category for about 2 years. The fist thing to look out for is whether there is an editor wanted text at the bottom of the category you are looking to submit to. If there is this will mean that an editor from another category is looking after it as well as his own. There are not enough editors and the backlogs are stupid. I never got mine down past 300 and when I picked it up it had double that amount.

The trick is therefore to pick the right category which if incorrect will probably lead to it being erased (I did) and try to pick a category which doesn't have the editor wording in the footer. Don't make it spammy and always use the name of the site in the title and not your given keywords (ok if the keyword is your site of course). The other thing is patience, u don't have to resubmit given the listing is there, it just needs an editor to review it. Editors are a picky lot also so don't give them any opportunity to reject it. I used to get begging and sometimes threatening emails which used to make me laugh....probably because they were my competitors and as soon as I got the editor status I 'cleaned' up my category which strangely meant all my competitors were removed only to be replaced with my lovely keyword rich anchored website....ahhh the good times! No matter what you say though the link is good and is republished many times by scraper sites and the like which will boost your link count nicely! Just don't for a category with an editor like me though!

What I have been doing that seems to work is I pay to get in the yahoo directory and then submit to domz. Everytime I have done this so far my site gets into domz.
