One that still seems to work is relevant, quality link building. The tactics change, but relevance + strong content + authoritative links are still a solid combination. The key is adapting rather than relying on old method.

Personally, I still make use of expired domains that have a long good history. In spite of the fact that the this method is considered old school by many, having health backlingks attached to them still pulls of a good result.

Absolutely agree,It is better to improve those parts that are outdated and work on internal linking on the page that is already authoritative and has backlinks.

Guest posting was always written off as dead but i thinks that relevant guest posts can still be effective. It was all about relevance of the site or audience and not the link itself.

forum backlinks are yet another example of that. a few couple of relevant back links from niche forums can bring traffic to ur own site along with SEO value even without clicking through them.
