I'm in the process of trying to build a press release/article distribution service using existing networks and a previously untouched extremely high quality network of news sites i own; in such a service, what is it that people here are looking for? What do people think the most important stuff to do/have is? Stats? Testemonials? etc. My business strategy is to make the best product possible; what is it that people would like, and what specific things should i show/demonstrate/do on the website/marketing to show that it is actually a good service?

Having worked in PR distribution for years, I’d say buyers care more about outcomes than the size of the network. Showing recent live examples, actual publications, indexing, link type, turnaround time and permanence will help with better conversions.

Clearly separate mass press-release syndication from selective editorial placements. DA and traffic help, but credible sites and transparent reporting are what build trust.

If your network is genuinely high quality, protect it with strict content standards and limited volume. Package it around visibility, authority and reputation, not simply “hundreds of placements.”

When I wanted to order a PR service a while ago, the inconsistency from the provider and difficulty in understand what exact was in the service discouraged me from going ahead. Many people just want to throw in any sites into the list are call it a PR service.

I see that all the time with many of the big pr services, i'm kinda split between making it be a pr service or just selling it to small business owners with the headline "you can get in the news"

For me real examples would matter more than just stats I’d want to see a few actual placements and what the service delivered before deciding to try it

I’d rather see real live examples than big network numbers. A few recent placements + indexing proof would tell me more than anything else

The difficulty with that is that i don't want to out/make my sites look worse by linking them, though there probably isnt any other good way to go in terms of proof

Yeah I wouldn’t publish the whole network either

You probably only need a few real examples that you’re comfortable showing publicly

Then for someone who is actually serious about ordering, you can show a few more current examples privately. That gives people some proof without putting your full site list on the sales page

Evidence is better than guarantees. Provide samples of the distribution, publisher, visibility or indexing, traffic statistics, time frame for the process, and reporting details.

buyer side view since your asking what people want.. the problem with 99% of pr services is its the same article on 200 sites, google canonicals it to one and the other 199 are duplicates that pass nothing. so "hundreds of placements" means nothing to me, i know its 1 placement and 199 copies
what id actually pay for
- links that stay. not 30 day then the page 404s
- the page actually indexed, show me
- real editorial on the news sites, not a /pressrelease/ subfolder that google already ignores
and be honest about pricing vs what it does. a $150 pr blast gets me maybe 1 link that counts.. same $150 runs my tier building for a month and gets me a few hundred contextuals on buffers. so a pr service has to beat that or its just a vanity buy. if your news network is genuinly untouched and editorial thats worth something, but sell it as 5 real placements not 200 syndications
