Have you thought about whether things like DR and DA matter anymore when it comes to selecting backlinks? Would you rather select a link from a site that is not so strong in terms of metrics but is related to your industry.

In my opinion, I would prefer to have relevance and traffic rather than a high DR/DA scoreA site with lesser relevance can actually be better than an impressive domain name that has no relation to your industry at all.

DR/DA works well for quick filtering, but I would not take it as the only basis for my choice. nowaday the importance of other parameter is much higher than that.

Relevance, quality of backlinks and performance on the SERP are more important than any third-party metrics. Many websites that supposedly have good search traffic all have traffic from gamed keywords or garbage and absolutely useless keywords that are completely unrelated.

I’d always choose the backlink of a site that is relevant to my site niche/industry, no matter the DA/DR position of that site. It’ll be beneficial for my site in the long term situation.

Of course it still exists, but the most important thing is that the problem relates to what your MS is doing.

I’d take the relevant site even if its DR/DA is lower. Those metrics are useful for filtering, but relevance and a real page with traffic usually matter more to me.

The former would definitely outweigh the latter since I believe that relevance is more important than high DR. DR/DA can be used for filtering purposes, but not as the main criteria.

Besides DR and DA, I’d check the site’s actual organic traffic, traffic location, keyword rankings, topical relevance, referring domains, link placement, indexing, domain history and content quality.

Also, check whether the site gets traffic from the same country you’re targeting and whether the page receiving the link is relevant to your topic.

Agree that da/dr should not be the only metrics.
But if two sites are equally relevant and have similar organic traffic, would you use da/dr to break the tie, or would you look at something else?

Me too. I would prefer getting a relevant website with actual traffic and no history over an irrelevant site with a very high DR, The value in links usually, increases when the website is relevant.

using DR/DA as a filter could be helpful, but before doing that, I would check the quality of the webpage and the quality of the backlinking sites. even a poorly performing site on DR/DA could transmit much more value, if it is niche-specific.

Even if a website doesn’t have a high DA or DR, getting a backlink from it can still be valuable if the website is relevant to your industry.

You can also check if the site has too many unrelated topics. avoid sites that publish about everything just to sell links.

Exactly. I’d use DR/DA as a quick filter, not the deciding factor, A relevant site with real topical traffic and a natural audience is usually more valuable than a high,DR site that has zero connection to the niche.

from my point of view, DR/DA is still a gud way to perform a quick preliminary filtering, but before that, I would think about relevance, organic traffic nd referring domain quality.

Yes, I’d prioritize relevance and genuine site quality over DR/DA alone. Metrics are useful for screening, but a relevant, trustworthy site with real traffic is usually a better backlink than a high-DR site with no topical connection.

DA and DR are easily manipulated third-party metrics, so I’d choose a topically relevant site with real organic traffic over a high-DR generic site every single time.
