Yes, I think Weibo is still worth testing if your target audience is in China. From my experience, entertainment, lifestyle, travel, fashion, and tech tend to perform well. The key is localizing the content rather than simply translating your existing posts.

nope, i feel for monetize within mainland china is challenging - due to language, their finance control and the moneitization requriement. they've billions of people doing the exact same thing, unless you're able to do something drastically different

Yeah, I think it’s still worth trying if the right audience is there. Just don’t expect it to bring the same results as Instagram or TikTok.
