The event started exactly on 1-Aug-2026 coinciding with previous traffic drops on 1-Jun and 1-Jul. So, I've noticed a pattern in my traffic drops and it may not be a coincidence. Some of my sites lost rankings and one site almost disappeared from SERPs. I've manually checked SERPs and found that there is a lot of shuffling and Youtube videos are getting high preference. I keep tweaking my sites, so I don't know if I messed up something or Google dropped a nuke on my sites. Please share with us if you are experiencing traffic drops, so that I can confirm it?

I have seen positive results for my adult sites, not so sure about the update. Nowadays Google tweak algo almost every day and throw sites out of index for no good reason. Do you see any warning or updates in Google webmaster or semrush for your sites?

People are noticing this shuffling a lot recently. Several trackers reported 2 such spikes in July. So, we can't be sure if they are algorithm updates or AI meddling with Google's core algorithm. I lost 50% traffic at the beginning of June (exactly on 1st Jun) and a slight dip at the beginning of July. So, it seems like more than coincidence. I didn't see any warnings or issues. Everything looks normal except for the organic traffic.

AHH any official announcements on this. Still looking for reliable sources.
Most SEOs take a break during weekends. They'll report it on Monday if there is an unannounced update effecting many sites. I'll try to find more information and post it here in this thread.

The next proper update I reckon will go hard on parasites.

I feel it coming.
Hasn't every update in the last year or so supposedly 'gone hard' on parasites? Meaning they've manually whacked the big offenders in that period, which just lets another crop spring up waiting to be harvested.

They already killed most of the parasites except for the sites under their umbrella. You can use Youtube, play store apps, reddit, etc. as parasites and Google won't do anything to block them in near future. Reddit may disappear from first page if their data-sharing agreement is cancelled but Google properties continue to rank as parasites. People managed to rank android apps from play store for game hacks and made a lot while others are struggling with pdf parasites.

Google killed fb pages, x profiles, IG reels, etc. as parasites as soon as they prevented data scraping. This is the reason major publications are discussing about plans to completely block Google as they are scraping everything and showing in AI overviews while sending insignificant traffic to them.

Idk reels rank fairly well still at least for me.

I’ve noticed more volatility too, but I’m always careful about calling it an update before there’s broader confirmation. Sometimes a few days of SERP movement settles down on its own. I’d also compare Search Console data with manual ranking checks to see whether it’s a real traffic shift or just temporary fluctuations.

Google makes changes daily and it affect sites, you have to be consistent because there update won't stop

The drop in traffic and severe turbulence in search results in the summer of 2026 are widespread and are associated with a change in the logic of Google updates. Your observations are absolutely correct: recording drawdowns strictly on June 1, July 1 and August 1 indicates that your sites have come under the influence of Google's new system of continuous updates

I'm not alone :D
Several others reported the ranking fluctuations.

Reddit is already destroying my ass, it's still ranking on Google, but their own filters are extremely strict now
I guess YouTube videos are a decent alternative, but I don't have experience ranking YT videos on Google, maybe my small channel (1500 subscribers) is not enough too

No, it's not an official Google update, just some extra volatility in the SERPs

Interestingly, one of my clients who runs a furniture store actually saw ranking increases without taking any action. But they already had really solid SEO in place before, so I think this is another Google update rewarding sites with proper content.

I've noticed some volatility too. A couple of my sites saw ranking fluctuations around the same time, while others stayed pretty stable. Definitely feels like Google's testing something, but probably worth waiting a few more days before drawing any real conclusions.

Youre not alone. A lot of site owners were telling the same thing about ranking volatility near August 1, with SERP reshuffling and more YouTube video placements showing up. It’s a bit hard to tell if this is an algorithm move or just site specific trouble, so I would avoid bigger changes, until it settles down a little. Keep tracking rankings for a few days, and then decide.
