Can some EXPERT give us newbies startup guidelines?

Hello Everyone,

You might of course f lame me saying there is a sticky but seriously... how are we going to find our way around 500 programs listed on that? I read, I read, I read... for weeks, but i dont know where to start.

I think everyone that starts whitehatting needs some basic utilities:

1. KEYRANK CHECKER
Show me today at which position web site is when searched for keyword. Or how much it declined/advanced from yesterday.

2. SOCIAL MEDIA AU TOMATION
Facebook, digg, technorati, twitter... etc. A tool to automate (not s p am) our account creation, submit our posts, etc.

3. ARTICLE A UTOMATION

4. PRESS RELEASE A UTOMATION

5. BLOG COMMENTER/SUBMITTER

I think these would be bare minimums to get started.

Anybody to show us the way or augment the list?

the best advice is to use the SEARCH button.
I found lots of useful stuff around here just by browsing posts. And programs that you get here for money, and are advertised around here can easily be found on rapidshare via rapidfinder or on torrents just google inurl:torrent program.
I am no expert but searching and browsing and patience helped me alot

Showing "The Way" is relative. Everybody has preferences for tools and different niches to market.
One important thing is if the websites being promoted are yours to make money or Client's websites.
This changes a lot the "way" you do your "business." I mentioned client's webs because you said initially "whitehatting."

To your list I would add:

Website Directories Submission-This is for those websites you want for the "keep" for a few years from the get going. Also, if its Client's websites.

Backlink Checker- Tools OR services, It's a MUST! How you gonna outrank your competition without knowing how strong they are?

Be Organized- Very Important. You need to create spread sheets with date of
your submissions (any directories) to track what is being indexed and not, how fast,
rankings improvement AFTER submission. What services are worth paying for and what tools are or became "crappy."

Everything you do, especially "WHITE HAT" related, You Need To Track It!

Dude I am browsing and reading since 10 days. I don't need to know logarithmic and integral functions of google's algorithms to get started. Just like i don't need to know where the crankshaft piston of a car is when i want to drive it.

Tools page lists 500 items! What exactly will i try from that list? I don't have ample amounts of times to try all the tools in the world... most of which requires a steep learning curve to start with.

A 500 tools is not basic... neither are having to read 23000 topics with 2719990 posts on them.

I am just asking something basics to get us started. Then the rest will come in time.

Off course they do. But there are also basics to get started with before expanding.

I still don't know where to get a tool or which tool to check position of a page from day to day.

Totally agree with being organized and documenting everything. Seems crucial if you are thinking long term.

I am sorry but there is a better list than yours which is hte sticky on this section.

Moreover I have no idea what any one of you 50 listings does. Trying to find first one on this forum took me to a page where i had to read 50 posts just to find out what it is what it does. I finished the topic, after 3 pages I still had no idea what it is. Searched on google, went to a 50 million word site that required me to read all of them by scrolling 50 pages down to find out what it is and pestered me with exit pages when i wanted to leave.

I have no respect to invasive programs or websites designed in such a way. And I will refuse to use a program like that let alone try to understand what it is.

Moreover, your posts seems like you are advertising someone else's stuff, probably Frank Kern is you or you are his affiliate.

I simply put up a list to help people out. (that's what this forum is for right?)

I don't spend my time on this forum, becaue I have better things to do with my time.

Make a site, work on on-page seo, start link building, see what works for you. You'll get there.

You could practice with any of the free tools available in the downloads section. If you're worried about losing money, autoblogs are basically guaranteed income.

Automated social media: Like box, like buttons, retweet button, stumble button, reddit button depending on what kind of content you're promoting. Tweet attacks free version if you don't hate twitter like me.

Press release automation: Write a good press release and it will get aggregated by human beings (and possibly google news).

Blog commenter/submitter: Scrapebox. It will come in handy when you need a list of footprints, too.

Tons of things: Market samurai. It's free for a month and it's a great investment. You can also download cracked versions regularly in the download section.

If you don't have a ton of sites, you won't lose much time submitting things and creating accounts manually.

If you learn how it works first you can drive the hell out of it, otherwise you are just spinning your wheels or even worse, blowing your foot off.

Good advice but I don't think that is not how it works in SEO.

An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.

It is better to do things gradually. I don't want to set up 20 sites and get all them delisted/banned. I have a live site that i want to work on.

I am looking for something like this actually:

1. Have a site and content ready.
2. Submit 10 links today to some directories.
3. Do 5 articles submissions tomorrow.
4. Join some forums, bookmarks, etc.

I mean... Some method to do things gradually and slowly instead of going all out crazy.

I would like to do stuff first manually. But a bit of a utomation would help (for example, create yahoo mails, twitter or what not accounts, forum logins, etc).

I just don't know how to go or where to go.

Everyone suggests tools, but unless this is your business (it is not my business and i dont intend it to be), those tools rack up to $5000 very quickly. How can a newbie afford that?
I am just doing this for my own site... for the fun of it.

I am trying to make a linkroot actually at the long run.

On-site SEO is finished. I have learnt it well and optimized it properly. Content is there, I don't have competitors in my niche.

My only interest is to rank high in Google. Not traffic, not anything else.

I'm brand new too and echo your sentiments....I've been reading/studying for a month.
I have logged everything into a mindmap. (i use personalbrain)

In the beginning, 95% of what I read I didn't understand so I searched for meanings.

It felt like being in a fog.

I am at the end of my initial learning.

Personally, I'm a by-the-book person. Give me instructions and I can make it happen.

However in IM, some things are trial and error and (I know you've read this b4),
--we have to put our own spin on this. This requires self-examination in the truest sense.

How else can we be successful unless we personalize this?

The only thing left to do is to do it.

Who What When Where How---when I get comfortable enough to answer those,
that will be real progress.

Like a toddler learning to walk...not being afraid to fall down. And with the
same determination: crawling to standing to walking.
