Ok long story short here. Am quite new to this type of stuff, so when someone bought something off of me online, I thought paypal would be the easiest method of payment.

The only thing is, when I was doing business with this guy, I was pretending to be a 30 year old bloke so I would sound more experienced. In actual fact, I am a 19 year old girl.

So when he sent his payment to me, he asked 'why is your name coming up as ***** *****?'

Also, I have a pretty uncommon name, so would be VERY easy to find online :(

Now I know there is nothing I can do about this guy, but is there any way I can hide my name when people send me payments?

Or, if there isn't, what would be the best method for me to get paid from that doesn't require me to show my name?

I know this may seem silly to some people, but as a teenage girl you have to be very concious of your safety online.

Thanks

Next time say you are a 50 year old woman. Age doesn't show so no one would know. YOu can't hide your name with Paypal

When I had to send payments to freelancers, and I wanted to hide my name, I used a "proxy account". Just make a 2nd account with a fake name, send to it 50$ from your real account, then use the 2nd account to pay people/ receive money. Its tedious but it worked for me. But I only used it to send money, not to receive. But you should try it!

@ OP - don't try this.

You will 100% get both accounts limited at some stage.

i have several paypal accounts which i verified with a vcc. you can also get these verified accounts here on bhw.

you can receive money with that verified accounts and send it to your main account.

my experience is that you can send 500$ per week from the veryfied accounts without any problems. if you try to send that amount of money more often from one account (maybe 2 days in a row) you will hit a security filter. paypal became very sensitive in the last six months i think.

so spread over several accounts, verify them with vcc and do not send money to your main account more that 1x a week from each account and not more than 500$ at once.

Tell him the truth.

and next time pass for a 30 years old woman.

Or tell them that you was a woman and now you are a man,but still keep your old name.
Is quite normal in my country.

Don't even consider multiple accounts unless you are adept at clearing cookies
and using proxies. They Will limit your account.
An alternative is to open a business account with them in your business name.
I have a personal account and my Ltd company has an account.

of course you should clear cookies and use proxies or change your ip in any way (router reconnect or vpn) with every service where you use multiple accounts!!!

wow, quite a situation eh ???
well, make another account, or to be honest, or lie the whole thing.
or say that it's nickname on internet to make money.

Look, screw what everyone is saying.. Do this..

Create a Ireland Paypal account: Paypal. com/ie
If you need an ireland address to submit to paypal, use google maps or you can use this one

2 College Green
2, Co. Dublin, Ireland
01 8961000

After you have done that, confirm your paypal account with the email address you used. Now go to Walmart,CVS,Walgreens one of those and pick up a prepaid credit card with the lowest amount on it, Like $20.00 now take that card and register it online with the web address that's listed on the back of the card.

Once you do that, Sign into paypal with your new account and Click Add Credit Card, Once you add that credit card paypal is gonna charge you $1.95 to your credit card now log in to your credit card to see "Recent Transactions" You are gonna see their transaction like "PAYPAL INC. 9230" You are looking for them 4 digits paypal puts in the transaction. Once you have that, Go back to paypal confirm that card with paypal.
Paypal will then credit your paypal account that $1.95.

And that's it. Your confirmed now you can use that paypal account to send the money to your "Real Paypal Account" or vice versa. Send money to the fake account, then use the fake account to send to the person.

You are right, good point. Make sure you buy a greendot prepaid credit card.

Just had a look at paypal, and if I have a business account, I can just show my business name. So surely I could just use my fake name as a business name? Is this the name that will show up?

Or is this too easy? Do I need to actually have a business to have a business account? Because under 'business type' you have the option of 'induvidual'.

Also, they ask for an address and phone number. Now I could just put in the number of an old mobile phone I have, but address? Any way I could just put in a fake one? Or just some random address? Or will this all be checked out?

Sorry about all the noob questions :o But would really appriciate any help that can be given :)

Looks like you are trying too hard to hide, smells fishy and that story about you being a poor, innocent 19 year old girl is starting to sound like BS...

Not really, I just don't want people to see my real name. Why is that so hard to believe? I am really a teenage girl and that is why I am so concerned. If I end up doing business with a bit of a dodgy guy (unknowingly of course) and they decided to try to find me, they would probably be able to quite easily.

It's alot simpler than creating a new Paypal..

Just upgrade to a business account for FREE!

Then you can change your displayed name to anything.. Even names.
